HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius Tells LGBT Youth 'It Gets Better'
 
WASHINGTON, DC--(ENEWSPF)--October 29, 2010.  The U.S. Department of Health and Human Servicestoday released a video message yesterday from Secretary Kathleen Sebelius telling lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) youth suffering from bullying and intolerance that they are not alone, and that it will get better.
 

The Secretary's message is in response to the recent news of young people taking their own lives after being victims of bullying because they were gay or believed to be gay.

As Secretary Sebelius says in her video message, "Don't let the bullies win and don't let them cut your future short. We need you and your talents, and whether you feel it or not, lots of people do care about you. I promise you, it gets better. Today may seem dark.  But tomorrow will be brighter. And so will the day after that….And the day after that. So be strong, be safe, and know that you are loved and supported."

Pentagon Report Leak: Most Troops OK Serving With Gay Soldiers

A majority of U.S. service members do not object to serving and living alongside openly gay troops, according to sources familiar with the results of a Defense Department survey.

NBC News first reported on the findings Thursday evening. The results are part of a survey that was sent to 400,000 active-duty and reserve troops in July. It included a variety of questions, including how they would feel about a gay service member living with a same-sex partner on base and whether they had shared a room or showers with openly gay troops before.

The survey was also sent to 150,000 family members of the troops, with a majority of them reportedly opposed to the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy as well. The findings also show that a minority of the troops responding to the survey strongly opposed serving with gay troops and said they would quit the military if the policy were to change. It was not clear how small that minority opposed to openly gay troops was.

The survey results are being analyzed and are expected to be included in a Pentagon report due to President Obama on Dec. 1. Defense Department officials refused comment to NBC News.

URGENT:  Boycott Gold's Gym, Target and Best Buy for donating money towards anti-gay political candidates/organizations and to Proposition 8 (California) to prevent gay marriage. I would not purchase "Blood Diamonds," nor should a person / organization be contributing funds to both Hitler / Nazi's and the Jews at the same time!   Obviously giving money to the Jews and not Hitler/Nazi's was the right thing to do.   Hence, these companies violated my trust and well-being.   They gave money to my enemy who would terminate me from my job, deny me housing and send me to a Internment camp.  Therefore, goodbye Gold's Gym, Target and Best Buy!  The CEO's of these companies have been insensitive to our reaction and do not even comprehend their actions!  What takes so long to "fire" these Neanderthals?

Actually, RD, it isn't illegal at all, let alone *highly* illegal. It would only be illegal if Linda's name or picture appeared on it. That's why the Federal judge ruled the CT AG's decision to be illegal.

"This is consistent with some Attorney Generals' tactics that threaten litigation for political gain."

Under this ambiguous threat of legal action by the U.S. Department of Justice, WWE has reluctantly decided not to give away WWE merchandise near select polling stations tomorrow.

The controversy began with Connecticut Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz's directive stating "if poll workers feel like the wearing of WWE paraphernalia is in any way interfering with the voting process, they can ask the individual to cover it up or come back with something else on." The directive was ultimately overturned by a Federal Judge last week. Subsequently, to celebrate the victory of restoring voters' rights, WWE had planned to give away WWE merchandise at select polls to anyone regardless of political affiliation or whether they intended to vote."

Gay Teen's Tormentors Quit Rutgers

Manhattan - The Rutgers students accused of secretly filming the same sex tryst of tragic teenager Tyler Clementi have quit the school, according to the Daily News.

Dharun Ravi and Molly Wei allegedly posted footage of the encounter online, while Ravi posted on Twitter that he'd seen his roommate "making out with another dude."

Clementi, 18, from Ridgewood, N.J., committed suicide by jumping off the George Washington bridge in September.

The News said Ravi has transferred to another school. Wei's friends told the newspaper she'd dropped out until the controversy cools.

 Both have been charged with invasion of privacy.

The episode sparked concern over a surge of deaths among bullied homosexuals. Clementi's death "devastated" TV host Ellen DeGeneres, and caused a YouTube movement called "It Gets Better," aimed at helping isolated gay teens.
