Ring In Your Best Body For 2013

May good health and a small waistline be yours in 2013.

So what's your target weight-loss goal? Is it five pounds, 20 or more? Whatever it is, here's how to beat the bulge -- fast.

Eat the right amounts of sugar and carbs and you'll lose two pounds a week. Other trendy diets may claim that their methods can help you lose eight or more pounds in a week, but those are neither safe nor effective in the long-term. Aim to eat no more than 15 grams of sugar and 6 servings of carbs a day (a serving is about 15 grams).

Slow, steady weight loss is easier to maintain, and has a cosmetic benefit: It allows your skin to slowly shrink along with your fat stores. This prevents the sagging skin that you sometimes see in people who have lost dramatic amounts of weight quickly. Slow, steady weight loss also gives you more energy. You'll be more likely to remain active, rather than feel worn out from your diet.

Finally, you will never feel deprived or hungry, so you'll be less likely to binge and cheat. Shedding just two pounds a week is doable, as long as you commit yourself to long-term success.
    Take Action:
    • BOYCOTT EXXON MOBILE - Do not pump gas at ExxonMobil - Oil and gas giant ExxonMobil voted earlier this year overwhelmingly against protecting employees from discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. It's been doing that for years. Despite being the top Fortune 500 company, the corporation is notorious for failing to provide for its LGBT employees. Scoring an abysmal -25 on HRC's Corporate Equality Index -- the lowest possible score -- ExxonMobil claims that LGBT protections are "unnecessary" and already covered under other company policy.
    • BOYCOTT "Chick-fil-a" for donating money to anti-gay groups. UPDATE: President/Owner of Chick-Fil-A stated "they do not support Gay Marriage." "They support the bible only." Therefore, we believe they do not welcome Gay people as they may feel that Gay people are an abomination. Tell your colleges, business's to end their lease and business relationships with Chick-Fil-A (CFA). Dan Cathy (owner of of CFA) contributed to Exodus (Reparitive Therapy) and the FRC whose money is connected with "KILL THE GAYS" in Uganda. Question: Does Dan Cathy know that politics should not be discussed at the dinner table?
    • End DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act). Prevents Federal employees and Gays in the Military in gaining equal benefits. Prevents Gay Partners from Marrying one another.. Case has now been sent to the US Supreme Court. Demand that Judge Roberts reverses DOMA and that Judge Roberts Upholds the Reversal of Prop 8.
    • Pass a LGBT friendly GENDA (Gay Employee Non-Discrimination Act). GENDA would prevent employment discrimination of LGBT workforce.
    • Boycott Salvation Army as they will not hire Gays! "DO NOT DONATE TO THEM."
    • BOYCOTT KOCH INDUSTRIES PRODUCTS- to include their products: Angel Soft toilet paper / Brawny paper towels / Dixie plates, bowls, napkins cups / Mardi Gras napkins and towels / Quilted Northern toilet paper / Soft 'n Gentle toilet paper / Sparkle napkins / Vanity fair napkins / Zee napkins / Georgia-Pacific paper products envelopes / All Georgia-Pacific lumber building products (INVISTA Products) / Lycra / Stainmaster Carpet. The billionaire - Koch brothers are ultra republican - tea bag founders/supporters that do not support causes of the LGBT community.
    • Boycott WALMART - The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force criticized Walmart for denying employee benefits to same-s-x partners and for failing to prohibit discrimination based on gender identity. By comparison, the group said two other chain stores with a strong presence in New York, Costco and Walgreens, did much better.
    • "Tune Out Trump", Boycott all Trump Hotel, casinos, holdings, The Apprentice and NBC Network! At CPAC, Trump said he is considering a run for president as a Republican. In a interview with the Des Moines Register, Trump added that he opposes all forms of legal recognition for gay couples, not just marriage. "They should not be able to marry," he said. So why does NBC keep the Apprentice when Donald Trump has stated he may run for president? After making racist remarks about Obama and recv'g public backlash, Trump decided not to run for president after NBC renewed his awful TV Show. How can NBC re-new the clown's show after he pulled such hateful shenanigans? Tell Macy's to stop selling Trump's Clothes!

And Now, Our War of the Fittest!

Barney Frank 'Strongly Opposes' Chuck Hagel As Defense Secretary
    Amanda Terkel / Huffington Post / 12/31/2012

WASHINGTON -- Outgoing Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) announced on Monday that he "strongly opposes" the potential nomination of Chuck Hagel as Defense Secretary, due to anti-gay comments the former Republican senator from Nebraska once made.

In 1998, Hagel called James Hormel, then President Bill Clinton's choice for U.S. ambassador to Luxembourg, "openly, aggressively gay." He called Hormel's sexual orientation an "inhibiting factor" that would prevent him from doing "an effective job."

Hagel recently apologized, saying his 1998 remarks were "insensitive."

That apology has not been enough for some members of the LGBT community. Hormel himself questioned the sincerity of Hagel's comments, saying they appeared to be made "only in service of his attempt to get the nomination."

On Monday, Frank -- who recently married his longtime partner -- also expressed his discomfort with Hagel's possible nomination in a statement put out by his office:
Then-Senator Hagel's aggressively bigoted opposition to President Clinton's naming the first openly gay Ambassador in U.S. history was not, as Sen. Hagel now claims, an aberration. He voted consistently against fairness for LGBT people and there does not seem to be any evidence prior to his effort to become Secretary of Defense of any apology or retraction of his attack on James Hormel. And to those of us who admire and respect Mr. Hormel, Sen. Hagel's description of him as aggressive can only mean that the Senator strongly objected to Hormel's reasoned, civil advocacy for LGBT people.

I cannot think of any other minority group in the U.S. today where such a negative statement and action made in 1998 would not be an obstacle to a major Presidential appointment.
While in the Senate, Hagel had a history of voting against the LGBT community's interests, receiving grades as low as zero percent on Human Rights Campaign's scorecard.

Frank is retiring from Congress and is not a member of the Senate, so he will not be able to actually vote for or against President Barack Obama's eventual Defense Secretary nominee.

But Frank is not the only prominent member of the LGBT community to oppose Hagel. The Log Cabin Republicans recently placed a full-page ad in The New York Times criticizing the former senator.

In a Sunday "Meet the Press" interview, Obama defended Hagel, saying he believed he had evolved on the issue.

"With respect to the particular comment that you quoted, he apologized for it," Obama said. "And I think it's a testimony to what has been a positive change over the last decade in terms of people's attitudes about gays and lesbians serving our country. And that's something that I'm very proud to have led. And I think that anybody who serves in my administration understands my attitude and position on those issues."

Every gay and lesbian person who has been lucky enough to survive the turmoil of growing up is a survivor. Survivors always have an obligation to those who will face the same challenges."
