RE: [Peckers_Pics] Hair Wars; April 27, 2010 - Safe PICS For All Ages, Rated G

Hey Jake:

Good luck with your upcoming surgery. I’m a big believer in aggressive palliative care—there is no virtue in suffering needless pain. I hope you come out of the operation with flying colors. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Don

Safe PICS For All Ages, Rated  G

Note: There shall be no messages and pics in my groups following this posting - from Tuesday April 26, 2010 through May 2, 2010.  I shall have laptop with me; but, will probably not use  it as I will be undergoing major surgery.  I shall be OK.   If it is longer than May 1 (I will just probably be in too much pain and may be unable to to communicate due to pain medication and not feeling well.

Today's Health/Excercise Tip:

A Killer Midsection

Leave the La-Z-Boy aerobics to the couch potatoes and try this advanced abs crunch today! The move requires a little agility and a bit of upper abs strength. The motion may feel awkward at first, but you'll quickly find your grip on the bench can help stabilize you. If you don't have a workout bench at home or at the gym, then use a picnic bench; it works just as well – just make sure you bring a mat or towel to cushion the surface. Let's begin!

Step 1: Lie close to the upper end of the bench. Reach behind you and grab the bench next to your ears. Squeeze your elbows together and keep your chin up and abs tight.
Step 2: Breathe slowly and rhythmically as you pull your knees up slowly to your elbows through a count of 10 seconds.
Step 3: Hold and squeeze for 2 seconds at the maximum tension point (where the elbows touch the knees).
Step 4: Return to the starting point through a count of 10 seconds, never letting your feet touch the ground.
Step 5: Repeat three times without resting.

Lebanese civil rights activists come out in their thousands

More than 3,000 people took part in a Laique Pride, or Secular Pride, march organised by civil rights groups.

The Beirut rally blocked the main road leading to the parliament building as demonstrators waved Lebanese flags and chanted, but it was kept about 100 yards away from the compound by Lebanese troops.

Some activists distributed red roses, while others raised banners that read:

"Civil marriage, not civil war" and "Fatima and Tony love each other... that's a problem," a reference to the fact that civil marriage is not an option in Lebanon.

Gay rights activists also made a strong show in the rally, waving gay pride flags and banners that read: "Queers for secularism."

Lebanon is home to 18 religious sects and is deeply divided along sectarian lines. It experienced a ruinous 15-year civil war between Muslims and Christians that ended 20 years ago.

Since Lebanon gained independence in 1943, the president has always been a Maronite Christian, the prime minister a Sunni Muslim and parliament speaker a Shi'ite Muslim.
