Murphy's injury setback

Birmingham City defender David Murphy may require further surgery on his troublesome knee.

Murphy, 25, has been out for seven months with a broken knee cap and doctors will see if the player needs another operation after he suffered a setback.
The left-back played his part in helping Blues win promotion to the Barclays Premier League before getting injured towards the end of last season.

Manager Alex McLeish will be hoping for a speedy return for the former Middlesbrough trainee he signed from Hibernian for £1.5m in January 2008.

McLeish said: "We are disappointed at the lack of progress by David. He was coming back - and looking good - but he has had another little setback.
"We are going to have to get him re-assessed for the lad's sake as well as anything else.
"He is really, really desperate to get back playing again. He is such a good professional and seven months out is a long time.
"Will he need more surgery? I don't know. He has got pins in his knees and, if these have to be taken out, then it will require a bit of that (surgery).
"It is a shame for David because he is really down at the moment and we are doing what we can to keep his morale up."
Murphy came up through the ranks at Boro and made 22 appearances, moving onto Hibs via a loan spell with Barnsley.
