Ferguson has had a glorious 23-year stay at United where he has won a clutch of honours including the Barclays Premier League on 10 occasions.
The 67-year-old did have plans to retire at the end of the 2001/02 campaign but decided to stay on and lead the Red Devils to even more silverware.
Long-serving midfielder Scholes is backing his manager to continue managing the champions into his 70s and add more trophies to the ever burgeoning cabinet.
so long
"His record speaks for itself," Scholes said. "Twenty-three years is a long time and, hopefully, he can continue to be here and win trophies for a long time to come. "Other teams don't have the benefit of having a manager for so long.
"I think it goes to show what can be achieved if you have a manger for so long and the trophies they can win.
"I've known no different. When I played for England there was a change of manager from time to time and it probably didn't seem to help most of the time. I've been lucky enough to play under one manager and it has been great."
Scholes came up through the ranks at Old Trafford and has made 422 Premier League appearances, scoring 98 goals, since his debut in 1993.
