Glad you wrote that.
I volunteer sometimes at a local food bank and many families who have had the bread-winner down-sized or laid off can't afford to pay their mortgage without food bank help and many are in danger of losing homes they have paid into for years.
God Bless.

Yep, that's what I try to instill in the kids. The needs are out there. A fairly affluent women I know went to donate food to the local food bank and she said she was embarrassed to see that her neighbor (who lived in a huge house) was at the food bank picking up food for her and her family. So even in affluent neighborhoods, there are times when there is need. You never know what is going on behind the doors. -------Original Message------- From: Mark Fischer Date: 11/29/2011 12:22:03 AM Subject: Re: [Peckers_Pics] Male/Gay Health-Discussion-PICS Male/Gay Health-Discussion-PICS Re: Twink Wars-Nov 26, 2011-BoycottTrump-TARGET-FOX NEWS-Salvation Army People should make "giving back" a regular part of their lives . . . on a weekly or more frequent basis . . . and not just wait for holidays. The fact that some may choose to do it on Thanksgiving or on any other day is their own personal choice. Good for them. I completely agree with Jake's idea of giving thanks by volunteering to help out someone in need. I have an opportunity for anyone who might want to take advantage of it: Our service men and women who are stationed at military bases around the country - mostly far from home - are mostly not able to go home for major holidays be it Thanksgiving or Christmas or any other. It would be wonderful if each one of them who is far from home could be invited to come to your home for holiday dinner. Here in Chicagoland, Great Lakes Naval Base is just north of here and the Base has a program where folks can invite a service person (or 2) to their home - you just have to notify the base military office and someone is assigned to you. It makes them feel at home and expresses appreciation for their (volunteer) service. Some of them may even have already been on one overseas deployment or more. We owe them all so much. Just a suggestion - even though Thanksgiving is over, it would still work for Christmas. Also, another way of giving thanks is to donate to your local food pantry (2nd Harvest here in Chicago). With more than 1/3 of Americans now living in poverty and with 6,000,000 people scheduled to lose their unemployment benefits on December 31 because the unemployment extension is being blocked by our RepubliCON friends, more people than ever before need help to feed their families.
