[Peckers_Pics] Male/Gay Health-Discussion-PICS Gay hate crimes

 

In Belgium today, on its last session before the summer recess, the government decided to punish hate crimes much more severly than it has untill today.

Punishment for gay bashing has gone up from a maximum penalty of 5 yrs to twenty yrs if no death has occurred.
In the case of manslaughter the punishment has gone up to life imprisonment from a maximum of twenty yrs before.

This is a direct result of the first gay murder (of a muslim man by his childhood friends) here in Belgium recently, a first public gay bashing in broad daylight last year in Brussels and hot  on the heels of a new gay bashing yesterday in Aalst by two brothers (whose ethnic background is not mentioned) in a  pub.  One of the two men of the gay couple that were victims of their vicious and unprovoked attack is still in critical condition. The assailants had simply asked the couple if they were gay and when they answered yes, proceeded to smash the furniture on the two. Aalst is known for its "Voal Jeanetten" parade during their annual carnaval festival, in which every man is supposed to dress up as a woman and act all gay.  So this bashing shocked the city to its core.

The two brothers are remanded in custody and will probably be tried under the new law if at all possible.
