No one is telling you to be a vegetarian (or to be heterosexual, or a Christian, or...).
Humans are omnivores, but there are many examples of other strong animals that are vegetarian: elephants, hippos, horses, oxen, gorillas, cows

And there are vegan bodybuilders: http://www.veganbodybuilding.com/

So, don't be threatened by vegetarians or defensive. It's just how we want to live our lives.
We can all sit together at the table.
