So your gym shoes are on, you've got your exercise towel and extra-comfy workout shorts. But are you forgetting something? Some people may need to see a physician for an exercise stress test before beginning exercise.
In addition to being used in cardiac programs, exercise stress tests are often used as part of fitness planning. If you join a fitness center, for instance, you may need an exercise stress test to make sure you can safely participate in various activities and help you set exercise goals.
The American Diabetes Association suggests that you consult your physician before beginning exercise if you:
- Are a male over age 40 or a female over age 50
- Have diabetes and are over the age 35
- Have had type 2 diabetes for more than 10 years
- Have had type 1 diabetes for more than 15 years
- Have high blood triglycerides, high blood cholesterol, or low HDL ("good") cholesterol
- Have heart disease
- Have high blood pressure
- Take heart or blood pressure medications
- Have retinopathy, nephropathy or autonomic neuropathy
- Have experienced chest pain or pressure, faintness or dizziness
- Boycott advertisers of Glenn Beck - Fox News. Glenn Beck is anti-gay rights.
- Update: DADT has been repealed. President Obama has kept his promise!
- Boycott Bill O'Reilly and FOX News and their advertisers. Bill discussed a French commercial by McDonalds that was meant to show that McDonalds is Gay Friendly. Bill said what is next? Is McDonalds going to be Al-Qaida friendly as well? Imagine - Bill O'Reilly compares Gays to Al-Qaida!
- Boycott Arizona the home of "hater" - U.S. Senator John McCain. Arizona's Hateful anti-Immigration Law - encourages racial profiling and increases hatred towards minorities. A remedy: Demand Republicans to support Immigration Reform (The Dream Act). Further, Senator McCain voted against ending DADT and Blocked Immigration reform!
- Boycott Target, Best Buy, Gold's Gym - for donating money towards anti-gay political candidates/organizations. Update: (12/26/2010): Target is continuing to donate to anti-gay groups/causes/politicians.
- End DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act). Prevents Federal employees and Gays in the Military from gaining equal benefits. Prevents Gay Partners from gaining equal benefits.
- Pass ENDA (Employee Non-Discrimination Act). ENDA would prevent employment discrimination of LGBT workforce.
- Boycott Salvation Army as they will not hire Gays! "DO NOT DONATE TO THEM."

Jan 25, 2011 / The Styraits Times / -- CHINA DAILY/ANNBEIJING'S first gay marriage between two men was held in Beijing on Saturday amid a storm of controversy over same sex unions, the Beijing Times reported.Da Wen and Xiao Qiang (not their real names) held a 'comparatively open' wedding ceremony with about fifty friends in attendance after meeting three years ago in an internet gay community.'We just want to live a stable life as normal couples do, no matter if the wedding is held or not,' said Xiao Qiang. 'The society is more open than before, which makes us brave enough to show the public' Da Wen added.
The couple displayed marriage certificates similar to ones issued by the Ministry of Civil Affairs, but they are not believed to be real as gay marriage is not legally recognised in China. It is thought to be the first wedding held between two men in Beijing. Gay women previously held a ceremony in South China's Guangdong province.
The wedding was held with the presence of an emcee, Xiao Dong, who works at the Beijing Rainbow Volunteer Station on HIV/Aids prevention. 'Their marriage is a remarkable move in the gay community because a settled-down relationship helps reduce the chances of Aids infection,' said Xiao.
Statistics from a 2010 Health Report conducted by the Beijing Health Bureau show among the 1,233 new HIV/Aids cases last year in Beijing, the ratio of male to female was 7.62: 1, with 60 per cent of new infections contracted by man-to-man sexual relations. 'They set a model among gay couples, to encourage more gays to have a stable relationship, which not only benefit themselves but also the whole society.' Xiao added.
"Every gay and lesbian person who has been lucky enough to survive the turmoil of growing up is a survivor. Survivors always have an obligation to those who will face the same challenges."
