Schedule Rest Days into Your Exercise Program

Believe it or not, rest is one of the most important aspects of any resistance training program. Now don't go getting all excited and head for the couch. We're talking about giving your muscles 24 hours of rest in-between workouts. A rest period of at least 24 hours allows the body to recover from exercise. Resting helps your body replenish glycogen stores and progressively adapt to the exercise stress.

Progressive adaptation allows you to reach higher levels of fitness over time, which is very important. Otherwise, you're stuck in a plateau and going nowhere. To make the most of your rest days, allow at least one full day of rest in between working a specific muscle group. But don't make the mistake of thinking "if some is good, more is better." Allowing more than three days of rest for a muscle group will have you losing what you've worked so hard for.

If you want to work out more than every other day, group your workouts by muscle type or geography. For example, do an "arms" day on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and then alternate with a "legs" day on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. And then give your body at least one full day of complete rest, like on Sunday. Rotating your workouts in this way will help you from losing your gym habit, but allow you to rest up, recover and get revved up for more!

  • Boycott Target, Best Buy, Gold's Gym - for donating money towards anti-gay political candidates/organizations. Update: (12/26/2010): Target is continuing to donate to anti-gay groups/causes/politicians. Update 03/08/11 - Lady Gaga Ends Target Partnership, Reportedly Over Target's Poor LGBT Stance. Update 3/25/2010 - Target displays their hypocrisy and Sues California Gay Rights Group for Lobbying Outside Stores. Target is attempting to block the LGBT right of free speech! STOP SHOPPING AT TARGET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Update 4/8/2011: Target lost its case to stop the LGBT from canvassing in front of their stores. A huge PR Disaster for TARGET! Perhaps Target should go out of business as they betrayed their investers and customer base. Target contributed massive funds to a politician who would like to exterminate gays. Now, Target can not stop us from Boycotting them, nor picketing, nor talking to customers near their stores; although, Target allows a anti-gay company such as the Salvation Army to stand outside their door and speak with customers and raise money. Isn't this a double standard?
  • End DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act). Prevents Federal employees and Gays in the Military from gaining equal benefits. Prevents Gay Partners from gaining equal benefits.
  • Pass a LGBT friendly ENDA (Employee Non-Discrimination Act). ENDA would prevent employment discrimination of LGBT workforce.
  • Boycott Salvation Army as they will not hire Gays! "DO NOT DONATE TO THEM."
  • BOYCOTT "Chick-fil-a" for donating money to anti-gay groups.
  • BOYCOTT KOCH INDUSTRIES PRODUCTS- to include their products: Angel Soft toilet paper / Brawny paper towels / Dixie plates, bowls, napkins & cups / Mardi Gras napkins and towels / Quilted Northern toilet paper / Soft 'n Gentle toilet paper / Sparkle napkins / Vanity fair napkins / Zee napkins / Georgia-Pacific paper products & envelopes / All Georgia-Pacific lumber & building products (INVISTA Products) / Lycra / Stainmaster Carpet. The billionaire - Koch brothers are ultra republican - tea bag founders/supporters that do not support causes of the LGBT community.
  • Boycott WALMART - The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force criticized Wal-Mart for denying employee benefits to same-s-x partners and for failing to prohibit discrimination based on gender identity. By comparison, the group said two other chain stores with a strong presence in New York, Costco and Walgreens, did much better.
  • "Tune Out Trump", Boycott all Trump Hotel, casinos, holdings, The Apprentice and NBC Network! At CPAC, Trump said he is considering a run for president as a Republican. In a interview with the Des Moines Register, Trump added that he opposes all forms of legal recognition for gay couples, not just marriage. "They should not be able to marry," he said. So why does NBC keep the Apprentice when Donald Trump has stated he may run for president? After making racist remarks about Obama and recv'g public backlash, Trump decided not to run for president after NBC renewed his awful TV Show. How can NBC re-new the clown's show after he pulled such hateful shenanigans?

Ricky Martin is to host a fundraiser for US President Barack Obama.

The 'Livin' la Vida Loca' singer announced on Primer Impacto that he will headline an event for Obama supporters in New York City.

Martin said of the fundraiser: "I am proud to support our President. I believe Barack Obama has shown a deep conviction to help those most in need, even if their voices are not always the ones heard the loudest in Washington.

"He has also been an exceptionally strong advocate for the Latino and LGBT communities, leading us to precedent setting milestones such as the appointment of the first Hispanic Supreme Court Justice and the repeal of [Don't Ask, Don't Tell].

"With his actions, I believe the President has put the United States back on the right path and has earned the opportunity to finish the critical work that he has started."

The benefit will take place on May 14 at the Rubin Museum of Art.

Martin famously appeared at the inauguration of Republican former President George W Bush in 2001. Footage of the two dancing on-stage was seen around the world.

The openly gay singer recanted his support for President Bush in 2007.

Gay Son of Ex-Klansman Runs for Office in Kansas

Erich Bishop, the gay son of a former Ku Klux Klan member, wants to unseat Jan Pauls, a state representative who is a Democrat but has an antigay record.

The gay son of a former Ku Klux Klansman is planning to challenge a conservative Kansas legislator in the state's primary election this August.

Erich Bishop, 28, announced his plans today during a rally at the state capitol in Topeka, The Topeka Capital-Journal reports. He will run in the Democratic primary against state representative Jan Pauls of Hutchinson, who despite her party affiliation "has been as right-wing as any of her Republican colleagues on social issues," the newspaper reports. She recently has backed a bill that would allow state residents to opt out of laws that conflict with their religious beliefs, such as laws prohibiting anti-LGBT discrimination.

Today's rally was a gathering of people opposed to that bill, which has been passed by the state House of Representatives and is awaiting a vote in the Senate. Bishop, announcing his candidacy while addressing the crowd, discussed experiencing bigotry firsthand.

"My father is a former member of the Ku Klux Klan," he said. "To call my household as a child racist and homophobic would be an understatement. My father rightly faced opposition from people like you."
