Get a Little Middle: The Weighted Oblique Twist

Here's a great move to work the muscles that run down each side of your body, from your lower ribs down. The weighted oblique twist will strengthen your obliques, which in turn will help fortify your core and lower back, improve your posture and help prevent injury from any bending or twisting movement. Plus, having firm obliques is the key to trimming your waistline. Not sure if this move is for you? If you can roll over to the other side of the bed, and you're comfortable balancing on a Swiss ball, then you're ready for the weighted oblique twist. It's that simple! Let's begin:

Step 1: Sit on the ball, holding a dumbbell just under your chin. Walk your feet forward until your hips are slightly lower than your chest. Keep your abs tight and chin up. Turn to one side to begin the exercise.

Step 2: Slowly twist your torso to the other side through a count of 10.

Step 3: Hold and squeeze for 2 seconds at the maximum tension point.
 
Step 4: Then twist to the other side through a count of 10 seconds.

Step 5: Repeat three times without resting.

  • Boycott Bill O'Reilly and FOX News and their advertisers. Bill discussed a French commercial by McDonalds that was meant to show that McDonalds is Gay Friendly. Bill said what is next? Is McDonalds going to be Al-Qaida friendly as well? Imagine - Bill O'Reilly compares Gays to Al-Qaida! Further, Boycott Fox's Owner "Rupert Murcoch" and get him thrown in jail for illegal - Take Action:
    political donations, corruption, greed, bribery, hacking!
  • Boycott Target, Best Buy, Gold's Gym - for donating money towards anti-gay political candidates/organizations. Update: (12/26/2010): Target is continuing to donate to anti-gay groups/causes/politicians. Update 03/08/11 - Lady Gaga Ends Target Partnership, Reportedly Over Target's Poor LGBT Stance. Update 3/25/2010 - Target displays their hypocrisy and Sues California Gay Rights Group for Lobbying Outside Stores. Target is attempting to block the LGBT right of free speech! STOP SHOPPING AT TARGET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Update 4/8/2011: Target lost its case to stop the LGBT from canvassing in front of their stores. A huge PR Disaster for TARGET! Perhaps Target should go out of business as they betrayed their investers and customer base. Target contributed massive funds to a politician who would like to exterminate gays. Now, Target can not stop us from Boycotting them, nor picketing, nor talking to customers near their stores; although, Target allows a anti-gay company such as the Salvation Army to stand outside their door and speak with customers and raise money. Isn't this a double standard?
  • End DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act). Prevents Federal employees and Gays in the Military from gaining equal benefits. Prevents Gay Partners from gaining equal benefits.
  • Pass a LGBT friendly ENDA (Employee Non-Discrimination Act). ENDA would prevent employment discrimination of LGBT workforce.
  • Boycott Salvation Army as they will not hire Gays! "DO NOT DONATE TO THEM."
  • BOYCOTT "Chick-fil-a" for donating money to anti-gay groups.
  • BOYCOTT KOCH INDUSTRIES PRODUCTS- to include their products: Angel Soft toilet paper / Brawny paper towels / Dixie plates, bowls, napkins & cups / Mardi Gras napkins and towels / Quilted Northern toilet paper / Soft 'n Gentle toilet paper / Sparkle napkins / Vanity fair napkins / Zee napkins / Georgia-Pacific paper products & envelopes / All Georgia-Pacific lumber & building products (INVISTA Products) / Lycra / Stainmaster Carpet. The billionaire - Koch brothers are ultra republican - tea bag founders/supporters that do not support causes of the LGBT community.
  • Boycott WALMART - The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force criticized Wal-Mart for denying employee benefits to same-s-x partners and for failing to prohibit discrimination based on gender identity. By comparison, the group said two other chain stores with a strong presence in New York, Costco and Walgreens, did much better.
  • "Tune Out Trump", Boycott all Trump Hotel, casinos, holdings, The Apprentice and NBC Network! At CPAC, Trump said he is considering a run for president as a Republican. In a interview with the Des Moines Register, Trump added that he opposes all forms of legal recognition for gay couples, not just marriage. "They should not be able to marry," he said. So why does NBC keep the Apprentice when Donald Trump has stated he may run for president? After making racist remarks about Obama and recv'g public backlash, Trump decided not to run for president after NBC renewed his awful TV Show. How can NBC re-new the clown's show after he pulled such hateful shenanigans?
  • Boycott Georgia for Execution of Troy Davis @ 11:08 EST, Sep 21, 2011:
    Former US President and Former GA Gov. Jimmy Carter felt that TROY DAVIS should not be executed and deserved a re-trial. The Former Director of the FBI felt that TROY DAVIS Was Not Guilty! Do not drive through Goergia as it is dangerous. Do not fly via Atlanta. For your safety -Do not travel to GA. TELL YOUR COMPANY NOT TO PARTICIPATE IN A CONVENTION IN GA! "Georgia Executes Innocent People!"

Barney Frank To Marry Longtime Partner: 'I Think It's Important That My Colleagues Interact With A Married Gay Man'

U.S. Rep. Barney Frank, the liberal icon from Massachusetts that has been a powerful voice for progressive issues during his three decades in Congress, plans to marry his longtime partner before his upcoming retirement so his colleagues will be forced to "interact with a married gay man."

Frank looked back at his storied career, the rise of gay activism and Congress' obstructive partisanship in an extensive interview published in New York Magazine on Sunday. The 16-term House Democrat plans to retire at the end of his term in 2013, saying his age and congressional redistricting made it too difficult for him to campaign for re-election in 2012. Frank is 72 years old.
 
Frank joined the U.S. Congress in 1981 after serving 10 years in the Massachusetts state legislature, where he introduced the state's -- and the nation's -- first gay marriage bill, in 1972. Even as he became the state's political gay rights leader, Frank, afraid of being "outed," did not publicly comment on his sexuality.

"I was 32 years old, I was unmarried, and I figured, well, people are going to think, 'Maybe he's gay.' I just said, f--- it, I would not come out. I could not have a political career and be out. I didn't have a district like Harvey Milk's, I didn't have a large gay constituency," Frank told the magazine, referring to the San Francisco politician who was the first openly gay man to be elected to public office in California.
 
The death of Connecticut Republican congressman Stewart McKinney) of AIDS in 1987, combined with increased media scrutiny about his personal life, inspired Frank to publicly come out as gay that year. While the congressman feared the announcement would be the end of his political career, it had little effect on his electoral prospects.
 
Frank, who said he and his partner Jim Ready have plans to marry in July, told the magazine that despite his often pessimistic attitude, he believes gay and lesbian Americans will have marriage rights in much of the nation within the next decade, and that he is "pleasantly surprised" by the progress the movement has made since 40 years ago.
 
That progress has made it possible for him to become the first member of the U.S. Congress to marry a same-sex partner.

"I want to get married. I do think, to be honest, if I was running for reelection I might have tried to put the marriage off until after the election, because it just becomes a complication. But I did want to get married while I was still in office. I think it's important that my colleagues interact with a married gay man," he said.
