Re: [Peckers_Pics] Re: Pope Benedict

Jake, this was not about relgion. It was a bout "religious leaders' not condemning genocide.
In Uganda we just have had and still have a threat to kill or imprison Gays and I believe there has just beena few executions of Gays in an Arab country.

Whether its a political leader or a religious leader with great influence, when he or she does wrong he or she needs to be exposed and corrected or removed if at all possible!!

See what I mean?

Anyway it was godenhear that went out on a limb to refute what had bben said by agonyofsoul.

I think that perhaps you shouldn't throw the baby out with the bath water, otherwise how can you show
articles or replies about Gay genocide or rather Christians who commit or perhaps rather avert their eyes to Gay genocide or what is happening socially or physically to gays that includes wrongful hypocritical acts.
Sincerely,
Butch Blanc

I truly apologize for even mentioning Pius XII as a comparison. Not only was my reference inaccurate (bowing to goldnheartbear's superior scholarship--perhaps he will tell us why Pius XII's condemnation was not made public during World War II), but it led me away from a much better comparison: the line of clearly top-class, beloved, futurist-thinking, and honored Popes who followed--John XXIII [the man who loved all of God's children], Paul VI [the man who reminded us that the essence of Our Savior is found in his teachings], John Paul I (at least in intention and preparation, since he died unexpectedly only one month into his reign)[the man who declared that Christ's Vicar must love equally God's children and the teachings He left for those children], and John Paul II [the man who declared that John Paul I's vision of Christ's will for His Church in the late 20th century and into the 21st century was essential to the wellbeing of both the Body and the Bride of Christ--and so he picked up that vision and carried it forth the rest of his long life--all capped by the former Cardinal Ratzinger, whose job is to lead as the Vicar of Christ's Church--the caretaker of Christ's Church, not its owner or even its pastor; a man who spurns the interest in the Community of Faith of 10% of earth's population while solving the problem of declining membership, declining vocations, and declining tithes by keeping all the gold, jewels, and pretty art works and juicing up the numbers "simply" by recombining the Coptic Christians, Eastern Orthodox, Roman Catholic, American Catholic, and the Anglican Communion back into the original church from which it has been splintering for 2000 years. Well, it has the merit of promising to keep him thoroughly occupied with his business and not mine throughout his tenure.

Gentlemen, I am a historian.Pius XII was declared by the Jewish People RIGHTEOUS AMONG THE NATIONS which is a high honor. There is documentation that does show through diplomatic circles that he did everything possible to protest. Statistics show he was able to smuggle thousands of Jews out of Italy, and hide many others...A secret order was given to take Jews into convents, monasteries, etc and give them other identities . This communication was sent through out Europe. Madeline Albright and countless host of others were saved by that order. There was much said after the war, and Pius XII did much to help.

Butch (and all in the group), I am sorry that I wasn't more clear. I didn't mean that Pope Benedict does not speak of the Nazi attempted extermination of the entire world's Jews (although I don't know that he DOES, either). I meant that Pope Pius XII knew everything during World War II and refused to mention it or acknowledge that he knew it, during or even after the war. I do think Pope Benedict is a walking disaster, but it is Pope Pius XII that I think should have been dethroned: someone who does nothing to protest or stop evil that he knows about with hard proof is part of the evil, not just an innocent bystander.

I appreciate your comment--especially since it tells me that I need to let my messages cool a bit and reread them before firing them off. Thanks. Larry Jones
