Take Action:

  • Boycott "Whole Foods" Grocery Stores:  Their CEO is against Health Care Reform.  Also, Whole Foods is blocking unionization. Check out Trader Joe's instead. Due to the boycott & pressure from stockholders,  their CEO has stepped down; But,  remains on the Board.  Further,  Whole Foods has made no retraction of these anti-Healthcare reform comments & continues to support Republican agenda.
  • Boycott Exxon OIL. Do not purchase their GAS. "Exxon scored as the worst company for the LGBT to work for!"  In fact,  before Exxon purchased Mobil Oil, Mobile had same gender partner benefits. Well, that changed for those employees when Exxon purchased Mobil - as same gender-partner benefits went out the door! Therefore, as we have choices, we don't need Exxon.
  • Boycott advertisers of Glenn Beck on Fox News as well as all of FOX NEWS!  Glenn has lied about Health-care, called our President a racist, and is anti-gay rights.
  • We demand immediate end of DADT. It is out-right discrimination.
  • Boycott Arizona because of their uncivilized anti-Immigration Law that encourages racial profiling and increases hatred towards minorities.  A remedy: Demand Republicans to  support Immigration Reform.  So Far, Republicans will not cooperate.  Are we all suppose to walk around with Birth Certificates in our hands?  Are we all suppose to "look 'White' or go to jail" (until all documents prove you are American)?  What if Arizona does not like Gay People?  Will that person be hastled for vertification of being a American?  Oh Wait, Arizona does not have laws protecting gay people nor rendering them equal rights. Oops! "My Bad" -  for not remembering.  I guess "Arizona does not like gay people."  Gay in Arizona and tanned?  You better have your papers!

Today's Health/Excercise Tip:
100-Calorie Snacks Can Keep You Trim

Do you wish you could have the willpower to eat just one serving of chips instead of inhaling the whole bag? Here's the solution: Buy snacks that are portioned out in 100-calorie packets. Dieters can even enjoy "cheat" foods like Ritz Crackers, Oreos and Cheetos. These 100-calorie snacks are more expensive per ounce than a 16-ounce monster of a bag, but you will save calories if you limit yourself to one portion.

A downside to these snack packs is that they're not very filling. The small portion of high-sugar, low-fiber carbs may only serve to whet your appetite for more, causing you to reach for another packet.

A thin slice of cheese and whole wheat crackers or a teaspoon of peanut butter and an apple both provide roughly the same amount of calories and will better help balance your blood sugar, keeping your energy levels high and filling you up.

But if you're in the mood for a semi-naughty treat, the little packets make for effortless portion control. If your mornings are crazy and you're running out the door, you can easily throw one in your work bag or your purse. In the grand scheme of things, 100 calories for a special treat doesn't seem like too big of a deal. As long as the rest of your meals are healthy and include a good mix of nutrients, why shouldn't you indulge yourself with a small treat?

Mormon Church Fined In Connection With Anti-Gay Marriage Campaign
Posted by Brian Montopoli / June 9, 2010 / CBS News

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been ordered to pay a small fine for failing to properly report about $37,000 in contributions on behalf the successful effort to pass Proposition 8, which banned same-sex marriages in California.

According to the Deseret News, the Church has agreed to pay a $5,539 fine to California's Fair Political Practices Commission for late reporting of contributions (including staff time) to help the "Yes on 8" committee, pending final approval from commissioners.

A church spokesman told the newspaper that while "all institutional contributions made by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the ProtectMarriage Coalition were reported to the appropriate authorities in California," the church overlooked daily reporting requirements in the last two weeks before the vote and did not report contributions during that period until later.

The Los Angeles Times reports that the fine comes after a complaint from gay-rights activist Fred Karger, who argued the Mormon Church did not adequately disclose its efforts to ban same-sex marriage.

While the Fair Political Practices Commission could have assessed a $5,000 fine for each violation, it reportedly opted for a streamlined process that resulted in a deal with the church for the $5,539 fine.

In a statement, the gay rights group the Human Rights Campaign said the fine reflects "a pattern of blatant disregard for California election laws and provides ongoing evidence that the Mormon Church was a significant leader in the campaign to repeal marriage equality, even while it evaded standard reporting requirements and denied its involvement."
