Today's Health - Wellness / Exercise / Reflections:Diabetes: How Elevation Affects Your Blood SugarIf you regularly travel from a sea-level location (such as Miami) to a high-level location (such as Albuquerque or, say, a mountaintop), you might wonder why your blood sugars always read lower at the high elevation.
It's not your imagination: Most blood glucose meters use a chemical reaction that requires oxygen from the air to measure blood sugar. At high altitudes, there is less oxygen in the air, which causes the results to be lower. Thus, the results you get may be affected by altitude.
If you are traveling to a place with a much different altitude, read the instructions that came with your meter and also the package insert in the strips. You may also call the toll-free 800 number in the package insert, or write to the company that makes the meter to find out whether its readings are affected by altitude.

Take Action:
- Boycott advertisers of Glenn Beck on Fox News as well as all of FOX NEWS! Glenn has lied about Health-care, called our President a racist, and is anti-gay rights.
- We demand immediate end of DADT. It is out-right discrimination.
- Boycott Bill O'Reilly and FOX News and their advertisers. Bill discussed a French commerical by McDonalds that was meant to show that McDonalds is Gay Friendly. Bill said what is next? Is McDonalds going to get be Al-Qaida friendly as well? Further, Bill said that McDonalds would never show a gay friendly commercial in the USA. Imagine, Bill is comparing Gays to Al-Qaida!
- Boycott Arizona the home of senile - Sen. John McCain: because of their Hateful anti-Immigration Law that encourages racial profiling and increases hatred towards minorities. A remedy: Demand Republicans to support Immigration Reform. Further, Their Senator McCain voted against ending DADT and blocked Immigration reform! We shall hold the voters of Arizona responsible!
- NEW: Boycott Target and Best Buy for donating money towards anti-gay political candidates/organizations.
- NEW: Boycott Gold's Gym for donating loads of money to anti-gay candidates.

McCain vs. Brown

Boston Globe / Dec 6, 2010
THE PENTAGON'S study on the consequences of repealing "don't ask, don't tell" swept away many of the arguments against allowing gay and lesbian soldiers to serve openly. And while Senator John McCain's strident defense of the status quo is disappointing, other responses to the report -- by top Pentagon officials and by Senator Scott Brown of Massachusetts -- showed just how much sentiments have evolved toward tolerance.
Brown and McCain had both sought more input from military brass. The Pentagon report, released last week, was an honest look at the issue. It noted that a significant number of active service members believe that their work will be compromised by allowing gays to serve openly. But one contrary finding was noteworthy: Service members who had already served with someone gay were likely to view repeal of "don't ask, don't tell" as a non-issue.
