Oh I have lots of fun, in fact I'm heading to Fort Lauderdale this week & will spend a lot of time at the Ramrod.  If you enjoy it great.  I spent too much time in the fashion business in NYC.  Just give me a bottle of poppers & a leather guy & I'm happy.

The Oscars are fun. We always have a party or go to a party.
No, it's not brain surgery or saving the world, but lighten up - have fun wherever you can.
I love movies and usually haven't seen many of them, but it's fun to see clips of the movies and enjoy the spectacle.
Sometimes we've gone to parties that raise money for AIDS as well.

So, Jeffrey, lighten up.

I have to say I hate the oscars. I have not watched in over 30 years.  When I was an illustrator in NYC, I would always head to the Mineshaft on awards night.  My agent would always say you'll be the only one there.  Guess what those were the the best nights I can remember.  To me that Hollywood glam is crap.  Just my opinion.

entertainment, etc.... I figure just something to do for the weekend.
I do not always find something, or remember to do so, but I try.
I normally do not watch it, unless I have seen a bunch of the movies,
or plan to see some. In a way, it is away to get a idea of what may
be good to see. I did watch the Grammy awards and it was
awesome, sadly because of the death of Whitney. I believe the tribute was worth it. .....Jake

Artificial Sweeteners Lead to Higher Blood Alcohol

Go easy on those artificial sweeteners! While research has shown that sweeteners such as aspartame and sucralose can help avoid wide fluctuations in blood sugar, one study raised questions about the effects of artificial sweeteners in alcoholic beverages.

According to research published in the journal Digestive Disease Week, artificial sweeteners may bring about higher rates of alcohol absorption, leading to higher overall blood alcohol levels than identical drinks made with sugar mixes. The study's authors believe that the higher blood alcohol absorption results from the tendency of artificial sweeteners to speed up emptying of the stomach. Tests showed that men who consumed a vodka drink mixed with artificial sweetener experienced nearly a 30% faster rate of stomach emptying than those subjects who drank the same quantity of vodka flavored with a sugar-based mix.

  • Boycott Target, Best Buy, Gold's Gym - for donating money towards anti-gay political candidates/organizations. Update: (12/26/2010): Target is continuing to donate to anti-gay groups/causes/politicians. Update 03/08/11 - Lady Gaga Ends Target Partnership, Reportedly Over Target's Poor LGBT Stance. Update 3/25/2010 - Target displays their hypocrisy and Sues California Gay Rights Group for Lobbying Outside Stores. Target is attempting to block the LGBT right of free speech! STOP SHOPPING AT TARGET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Update 4/8/2011: Target lost its case to stop the LGBT from canvassing in front of their stores. A huge PR Disaster for TARGET! Perhaps Target should go out of business as they betrayed their investers and customer base. Target contributed massive funds to a politician who would like to exterminate gays. Now, Target can not stop us from Boycotting them, nor picketing, nor talking to customers near their stores; although, Target allows a anti-gay company such as the Salvation Army to stand outside their door and speak with customers and raise money. Isn't this a double standard?
  • End DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act). Prevents Federal employees and Gays in the Military from gaining equal benefits. Prevents Gay Partners from gaining equal benefits.
  • Pass a LGBT friendly ENDA (Employee Non-Discrimination Act). ENDA would prevent employment discrimination of LGBT workforce.
  • Boycott Salvation Army as they will not hire Gays! "DO NOT DONATE TO THEM."
  • BOYCOTT "Chick-fil-a" for donating money to anti-gay groups.
  • BOYCOTT KOCH INDUSTRIES PRODUCTS- to include their products: Angel Soft toilet paper / Brawny paper towels / Dixie plates, bowls, napkins & cups / Mardi Gras napkins and towels / Quilted Northern toilet paper / Soft 'n Gentle toilet paper / Sparkle napkins / Vanity fair napkins / Zee napkins / Georgia-Pacific paper products & envelopes / All Georgia-Pacific lumber & building products (INVISTA Products) / Lycra / Stainmaster Carpet. The billionaire - Koch brothers are ultra republican - tea bag founders/supporters that do not support causes of the LGBT community.
  • Boycott WALMART - The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force criticized Wal-Mart for denying employee benefits to same-s-x partners and for failing to prohibit discrimination based on gender identity. By comparison, the group said two other chain stores with a strong presence in New York, Costco and Walgreens, did much better.
  • "Tune Out Trump", Boycott all Trump Hotel, casinos, holdings, The Apprentice and NBC Network! At CPAC, Trump said he is considering a run for president as a Republican. In a interview with the Des Moines Register, Trump added that he opposes all forms of legal recognition for gay couples, not just marriage. "They should not be able to marry," he said. So why does NBC keep the Apprentice when Donald Trump has stated he may run for president? After making racist remarks about Obama and recv'g public backlash, Trump decided not to run for president after NBC renewed his awful TV Show. How can NBC re-new the clown's show after he pulled such hateful shenanigans?

Academy Awards 2012: Gay Reasons To Watch The Oscars

The glamour! The A-list stars! The after parties!

These are just three of the many reasons the Academy Awards are often jokingly referred to as "the gay man's Super Bowl." Indeed, there are few annual events we look forward to as much as Oscar night, though many of us confess to watching as diligently for the haute couture as we do for the awards themselves.

Though the Academy has a history of honoring actors' portrayals of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) characters (from Hilary Swank in "Boys Don't Cry" to Charlize Theron in "Monster" to Sean Penn in "Milk") the 2012 line-up could be the most gay-friendly yet. Not only is Christopher Plummer up for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of an elderly gay man battling terminal cancer in "Beginners," but Hollywood hunks George Clooney (nominated for "The Descendants") and Brad Pitt (for "Moneyball") have been profusely outspoken in their support of marriage equality. And let's not forget Glenn Close's spellbinding turn as a woman living as a man in 19th century Ireland in "Albert Nobbs."

As for parties, we'd love to snag an invite to one of two rivaling bashes hosted by gay icons (and, it seems, arch enemies) Elton John and Madonna.

1.  George Clooney For 'The Descendants'
As if seeing our favorite Sexiest Man Alive stroll the red carpet in a tuxedo wasn't enough, Clooney has been profoundly outspoken in his support of marriage equality in recent months, as seen in this clip backstage at the Golden Globes in January.

2.  Christopher Plummer For 'Beginners'
He may have won our hearts as Captain von Trapp in "The Sound of Music," but Plummer's performance as an elderly gay man who comes out of the closet just before being diagnosed with terminal cancer is truly revelatory.

3.  Glenn Close For 'Albert Nobbs'
Close is nominated for her role in "Albert Nobbs," a woman living as a man in order to find work in the harsh environment of 19th-century Ireland. A hotel waiter, Nobbs later falls in love with a maid (Mia Wasikowska) in the spellbinding film.

4.  Brad Pitt For 'Moneyball'
Having previously vowed not to marry Angelina Jolie until same-sex couples can wed nationwide, Pitt, who is nominated for Best Actor for "Moneyball," has been continually outspoken in his support for marriage equality. "We live in this great country that is defined by our freedoms and equality and yet we allow this discrimination to go on every day," he told Ellen DeGeneres. "That's not what we're about. That's not what makes us so great."

5.  Rooney Mara In 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo'
Rooney Mara is nominated for her take on Lisbeth Salander, the openly bisexual protagonist in the first installment of Stieg Larsson's thrilling trilogy.

6.  Billy Crystal As Host
Best known for comedies like "City Slickers" and "When Harry Met Sally," Crystal may not immediately come to mind in terms of garnering LGBT appeal for a Hollywood awards ceremony. However, one of the 63-year-old funnyman's first roles was that of Jodie Dallas, an unambiguously gay character, on the TV series "Soap," from 1977-1981.

7.  Brett Ratner's New GLAAD Collaboration
He may have rightfully stepped down from his role as Oscar co-producer after his infamous "fag" gaffe this past fall, but Ratner (right) seems to be taking steps in the right direction with his latest project, which will pair the "Tower Heist" director with the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) for a new video series on equality.

8.  Elton John's Oscars Party
Wish we could score an invite to Elton John's exclusive annual bash, which has a guest list that's exclusively A-list.

9.  Madonna's Oscar Party
Her directorial feature "W.E." may have received tepid reviews, but that hasn't stopped the Material Girl from hosting an Oscar bash at her manager Guy Oseary's home, which will reportedly draw the likes of Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and ex-husband Sean Penn.

10.  Daniel Radcliffe's LGBT Youth Support
Though we agree with Radcliffe that it's "disheartening" the Academy overlooked "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2," the iconic series' final installment, for any major awards, just knowing one of our favorite straight allies is likely to be walking the red carpet is enough for us to tune in.

We can always look forward to Joan and Melissa's insightful analysis of celebrity fashion and the procession itself on TV.

12.  Leo Buys Dorothy's Ruby Slippers
Clearly showing no ill will at having not been nominated for his role in "J. Edgar," Leonardo DiCaprio is the primary benefactor is helping the Academy to acquire one of four pairs of slippers worn by Judy Garland in "The Wizard of Oz" for a yet-to-be-completed Academy museum, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
