I (Br. Marc) started a yahoo group called Lambs Unfed where people can leave a message or a commemoration note for a gay person we lost to suicide.  There is also a link to a light chapel where you can light a virtual candle and send a message to the group so anybody can see the candle.
You can also make up a photo album and celebrate the life of your loved one.

There are Hate crimes against gay people. There are gay people who are fired over their sexual identity. There are gay people who died for our cause!

    What's Your Excuse?

    Why is it that most people will never have the body they truly want and deserve? It's not because they can't attain it, it's simply that they don't believe they can. And it's this negative mindset that makes all the difference.

    I hear more complaints and excuses from people who are unhappy with the way they look. Here are some top gripes:
    •"I don't have time to eat right or exercise."
    •"My job is too demanding."
    •"My whole family is overweight, so I guess that's why I am too."
    •"I can't get in good shape because…"
    •"I'm not in great shape because…"
    Many people have more than one excuse. So here's my solution: Identify one excuse first, take responsibility and then take action. If you still choose not to, it's simply because you don't truly want to change. Don't blame anyone but yourself. It's tough love, but perhaps just want you needed.
    Take Action:
    • Boycott Bill O'Reilly and FOX News and their advertisers. Bill discussed a French commercial by McDonalds that was meant to show that McDonalds is Gay Friendly. Bill said what is next? Is McDonalds going to be Al-Quada friendly as well? Imagine - Bill O'Reilly compares Gays to Al-Quada! Further, Boycott Fox's Owner "Rupert Murcoch" and get him thrown in jail for illegal - political donations, bribery, hacking!
    • Boycott Target, Best Buy, Gold's Gym - for donating money towards anti-gay political candidates/organizations. Update: (12/26/2010): Target is continuing to donate to anti-gay groups/causes/politicians. Update 03/08/11 - Lady Gaga Ends Target Partnership, Reportedly Over Target's Poor LGBT Stance. Update 3/25/2010 - Target displays their hypocrisy and Sues California Gay Rights Group for Lobbying Outside Stores. Target is attempting to block the LGBT right of free speech! STOP SHOPPING AT TARGET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Update 4/8/2011: Target lost its case to stop the LGBT from canvassing in front of their stores. A huge PR Disaster for TARGET! Perhaps Target should go out of business as they betrayed their investers and customer base. Target contributed massive funds to a politician who would like to exterminate gays. Now, Target can not stop us from Boycotting them, nor picketing, nor talking to customers near their stores; although, Target allows a anti-gay company such as the Salvation Army to stand outside their door and speak with customers and raise money. Isn't this a double standard?
    • End DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act). Prevents Federal employees and Gays in the Military from gaining equal benefits. Prevents Gay Partners from gaining equal benefits.
    • Pass a LGBT friendly ENDA (Employee Non-Discrimination Act). ENDA would prevent employment discrimination of LGBT workforce.
    • Boycott Salvation Army as they will not hire Gays! "DO NOT DONATE TO THEM."
    • BOYCOTT "Chick-fil-a" for donating money to anti-gay groups.
    • BOYCOTT KOCH INDUSTRIES PRODUCTS- to include their products: Angel Soft toilet paper / Brawny paper towels / Dixie plates, bowls, napkins & cups / Mardi Gras napkins and towels / Quilted Northern toilet paper / Soft 'n Gentle toilet paper / Sparkle napkins / Vanity fair napkins / Zee napkins / Georgia-Pacific paper products & envelopes / All Georgia-Pacific lumber & building products (INVISTA Products) / Lycra / Stainmaster Carpet. The billionaire - Koch brothers are ultra republican - tea bag founders/supporters that do not support causes of the LGBT community.
    • Boycott WALMART - The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force criticized Wal-Mart for denying employee benefits to same-s-x partners and for failing to prohibit discrimination based on gender identity. By comparison, the group said two other chain stores with a strong presence in New York, Costco and Walgreens, did much better.
    • "Tune Out Trump", Boycott all Trump Hotel, casinos, holdings, The Apprentice and NBC Network! At CPAC, Trump said he is considering a run for president as a Republican. In a interview with the Des Moines Register, Trump added that he opposes all forms of legal recognition for gay couples, not just marriage. "They should not be able to marry," he said. So why does NBC keep the Apprentice when Donald Trump has stated he may run for president? After making racist remarks about Obama and recv'g public backlash, Trump decided not to run for president after NBC renewed his awful TV Show. How can NBC re-new the clown's show after he pulled such hateful shenanigans?

    Supreme Court's Landmark Health-Care Ruling a Victory for Millions, Including LGBT People

    The Supreme Court's landmark ruling today upholding the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) is a huge win for millions, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people and our families. The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force has been a strong advocate for the health-reform law, and this ruling will help ensure that LGBT people and others have access to affordable health-insurance coverage. The ACA has already helped millions throughout the country, and we are thrilled that this ruling will allow the ACA to continue to make a positive difference in people's lives.

    While this ruling is a major victory, the Supreme Court did limit a key provision that would have expanded coverage to low-income people through the federal Medicaid program. The high court held that the government is limited in its ability to withhold Medicaid funds from states that fail to comply with the expansion of Medicaid that the law requires. The federal government may, however, use new federal funding as an incentive for states to comply.

    This setback will limit the ability to get health-care coverage to those of us who are economically vulnerable. We must continue to press for reform to address this inequity in our health-care system. LGBT people, people of color, and the economically disadvantaged confront multiple barriers to care and are disproportionately affected by poor health outcomes. We are all hampered by systemic, costly discrimination that refuses to recognize our needs or our families.

    LGBT people -- particularly LGBT people of color -- are in desperate need of affirmative, comprehensive, and affordable health care, and the Affordable Care Act is an important step to address those needs. According to "Injustice at Every Turn: A Report of the National Transgender Discrimination Survey," a groundbreaking report conducted by the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and the National Center for Transgender Equality, transgender and gender-nonconforming people systematically lack access to adequate health care because of dire poverty, unemployment, and widespread discrimination in nearly every facet of their lives. "Injustice at Every Turn" found that 19 percent of transgender and gender-nonconforming people said they lack access to any type of health insurance, with 31 percent of black respondents and 36 percent of immigrant respondents reporting that they are uninsured. An astounding half of the respondents reported having to teach their medical providers about basic transgender health care, and the transgender community reports over four times the national average of HIV infection (2.64 percent compared with 0.6 percent), with Latino transgender people experiencing a 10-percent HIV-infection rate and black transgender people a 24-percent infection rate.

    Limited access to affordable health-insurance coverage is often linked to poverty and employment, and this is especially true for the transgender community. For most people in the United States, health-insurance coverage is attained through employer-sponsored health plans, yet "Injustice at Every Turn" found that the unemployment rate among transgender and gender-nonconforming people is twice the national average and four times as high for transgender people of color. The high rate of unemployment contributes to the fact that transgender people are four times more likely than their peers to live on a household income of less than $10,000 per year, and 19 percent reported having been homeless at some point in their lives.

    The Supreme Court's ruling reaffirms that LGBT people in America should look forward to the implementation of many parts of the Affordable Care Act that were upheld today and that will continue to have a huge impact on the LGBT community. Just some of those provisions include:

    •A federal ban on sex-based discrimination in the health-care system for the first time. Because a number of federal agency and court decisions have found that sex-based discrimination includes discrimination on the basis of gender identity and sex-stereotyping, this could have a broad impact on all LGBT people, particularly transgender people.

    •State insurance exchanges. States will set up insurance-exchange programs, which are accessible, online programs that give consumers the opportunity to compare insurance coverage and costs and then pick the plan that is best for them. Under federal rules these plans cannot discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity.

    •Coverage for children under age 26. The ACA requires insurance companies to offer coverage for children under age 26 through a parent's insurance plan. For many young people, especially young LGBT people, this may be their only access to health-insurance coverage.

    •Accessible insurance search tools for same-sex couples. Same-sex couples seeking health coverage that is inclusive of domestic partners can now search for such policies at healthcare.gov.

    •Improved LGBT-inclusive health data collection. The federal government has begun the process of developing and adding sexual orientation and gender identity questions to national health surveys, to help better understand LGBT health disparities.

    •Insurance for adults and youth with preexisting conditions. In 2014 the ACA will prohibit discrimination against adults who have preexisting conditions (the ACA already banned preexisting condition exclusions for children in 2010). This will significantly impact transgender people and people with HIV/AIDS, who are often denied coverage on this basis.

    •Increased access to lifesaving preventive care. The ACA will now prohibit insurance companies from charging co-pays on lifesaving preventative services, including mammograms, tobacco-use interventions, cholesterol and high-blood-pressure screening, and testing for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV/AIDS.

    Despite these advances, however, there is still much left to be done. Until all members of our community are given access to affordable and safe health care, advocates should not and cannot stop pushing for full coverage for those that need it most, LGBT or not. It is literally a matter of life or death.

    Sleep Off the Extra Weight

    When you get enough sleep, you wake up rested and ready for your day. But that's not the only reason to get adequate sleep. Research has found that getting too few zzz's may be a major reason why so many of us overeat and end up overweight. When you don't get enough sleep, it's more difficult for your body to burn fat and sugar for energy.

    Repeated lack of sleep can actually raise the stress hormone cortisol, which brings on a pre-diabetic state. Inadequate sleep also lowers your levels of leptin, the hormone that works to decrease your appetite. As leptin production is blocked, your brain receives familiar signals telling you to eat. You feel hungry and have intense cravings for sweets and starches. Too bad your body doesn't actually need food – what it needs is a nap!

    But cravings are hard to ignore. And once you give in to them, your insulin levels soar and then quickly crash. This amounts to mood swings, stress, sadness, impatience, aggravation, and, ultimately, another food binge.

    Why do this to your body? Forgo the confusion by getting plenty of sleep – 7-8 hours – every night.
     
    June 27 is National HIV Testing Day. I hope you will go out and get tested. Let's all lead by example and break the stigma.

    Loud sirens, flashing lights and countless rainbow flags and banners accompanied uniformed police officers, cheerleaders and politicians who marched in San Francisco's gay pride parade Sunday, the 42nd year the city has celebrated the lesbian, gay and transgender community.

    More than 200 floats made their way down Market Street, the city's main thoroughfare. A few marchers were dressed in elaborate, brightly colored outfits made from balloons, while many other participants and parade watchers wore hardly anything.

    Angel Nava, 19, of Sacramento, Calif., wearing just a pair of skimpy orange-colored shorts, stood with his arms crossed, apparently chilled, but still in good humor.

    "I think all these people are beautiful," he said.

    Mayor Ed Lee was set to speak at the city's Civic Center - near the parade's end-point - later Sunday. He'll appear not far from where gay rights activist and San Francisco City Supervisor Harvey Milk famously addressed gay pride celebrants more than 30 years ago.

    Organizers said San Francisco's weekend events are the largest LGBT gathering in the nation, but thousands were also celebrating in Chicago and New York City, where parade-goers are toasting the anniversary of the state's same-sex marriage law.

    In Chicago, large crowds gathered on the city's North Side, with many saying it was time for Illinois to allow gay marriage. Sunday's parade comes just weeks after 25 Illinois couples sued for the right to marry.

    Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan and Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez have refused to defend the lawsuit, saying the state's gay marriage ban violates the constitution. Gay marriage opponents have said they're strategizing over how to intervene.

    Last year, several floats were vandalized before the parade began. Chicago police said there have been no reports of trouble.

    New York's march exuded diversity, from grand marshal Cyndi Lauper to the mayor, the police commissioner and the governor.

    "New York is a place where you can do whatever you want to do," Mayor Michael Bloomberg declared before he joined the Fifth Avenue parade at noon.

    He said he had a message for the rest of America: "The government should get out of your personal life."

    Hundreds of thousands of spectators crowded sidewalks a dozen deep, cheering and waving rainbow-colored flags for the annual festivities one year after New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed the Marriage Equality Act into law.
     
    The governor appeared Sunday with his girlfriend, Food Network chef Sandra Lee.

    City Council Speaker Christine Quinn came as a newlywed, married last month to longtime partner Kim Catullo.

    "A year ago, I was walking with my fiancee," Quinn said. "Today, I'm marching with my wife, my father and the mayor."

    San Francisco's parade came a day after a smaller march in the city's Dolores Park and the so-called "Pink Saturday" street party.

    Former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown waved as he rode by in a yellow convertible. A jail bus, adorned with rainbow banners, blared its siren and flashed its lights.

    The Gay Asian Pacific Alliance, LGBT for Obama, Out4 Immigration and Marriage Equality USA were among the marchers. Two men, marching hand-in-hand and waving a sign that read "Frank and Joe, 12 Years Together," received a warm cheer from the crowded sidewalks.

    Jeff Haas said he and his wife, Susie, have been coming to watch the parade for several decades, missing only a few years in between.

    "I'm really proud of the city and I think it's wonderful that we continue to celebrate this," Susie Haas said.
