I have a suggestion today for those of you who want to live a happier and healthier life. I want you to give yourself and your life a special gift today. It's not the kind of gift that you can run out to the mall and purchase. It isn't something you can touch either. Even better: It doesn't even cost you a penny.
What is this gift that can dramatically improve your life? It's the gift of gab, but not the kind of gab you're probably thinking.
I'm sure you're all familiar with that colloquial phrase the gift of gab. It traditionally means that you're a clever and smooth speaker who has the natural ability to convincingly talk about almost anything. The phrase silver-tongued devil comes to mind. But the gift of gab that I'm referring to here has nothing to do with this particular use of the phrase; it's simply a formula that I developed as a guide to help those who want to change their life for the better.
In this gift, G.A.B. is an acronym for Generosity, Action and Balance. When you sift it all down, learning to live a happier and more satisfying life is a skill that can both be taught and learned. However, as is true with any type of learning, the student must be ready when the teacher appears.The G in GAB represents the Generosity you demonstrate in how you live your life. Being kind, considerate and helpful to others builds character, makes you a happier person and significantly improves the immediate world in which you live. I'm a firm believer that, as a general rule, you tend to reap what you sow in this life. In that way, the gift of generosity tends to be circular in that it returns to you great dividends from openly demonstrating your compassion.
The A in GAB represents Action, which is the key to creating any type of change. An action-oriented lifestyle is one where you exercise your mind and body daily. It demands that you take daily bites at the apple (your goals), and showing those significant others in your life that you love, honor and respect them. The gift of action puts movement into your day and is the basic catalyst for getting things done. Action is the working partner of success!
The B in GAB stands for Balance. And by balance, I mean mental steadiness, emotional stability and a healthy portion of both work and play in your life. That old proverb so accurately states, All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. A healthy balance of work and play keeps you centered, well rounded and provides the framework for a healthy and happy life.So I hope that you take this all to heart today and consider giving your life a healthy makeover by injecting the gift of GAB into your day. Generosity, Action and Balance are three strong legs to build a fruitful, compassionate and wellness-oriented life upon.
Take Action:
- Boycott Bill O'Reilly and FOX News and their advertisers. Bill discussed a French commercial by McDonalds that was meant to show that McDonalds is Gay Friendly. Bill said what is next? Is McDonalds going to be Al-Quada friendly as well? Imagine - Bill O'Reilly compares Gays to Al-Quada! Further, Boycott Fox's Owner "Rupert Murcoch" and get him thrown in jail for illegal - political donations, bribery, hacking!
- Boycott Target, Best Buy, Gold's Gym - for donating money towards anti-gay political candidates/organizations. Update: (12/26/2010): Target is continuing to donate to anti-gay groups/causes/politicians. Update 03/08/11 - Lady Gaga Ends Target Partnership, Reportedly Over Target's Poor LGBT Stance. Update 3/25/2010 - Target displays their hypocrisy and Sues California Gay Rights Group for Lobbying Outside Stores. Target is attempting to block the LGBT right of free speech! STOP SHOPPING AT TARGET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Update 4/8/2011: Target lost its case to stop the LGBT from canvassing in front of their stores. A huge PR Disaster for TARGET! Perhaps Target should go out of business as they betrayed their investers and customer base. Target contributed massive funds to a politician who would like to exterminate gays. Now, Target can not stop us from Boycotting them, nor picketing, nor talking to customers near their stores; although, Target allows a anti-gay company such as the Salvation Army to stand outside their door and speak with customers and raise money. Isn't this a double standard?
- End DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act). Prevents Federal employees and Gays in the Military from gaining equal benefits. Prevents Gay Partners from gaining equal benefits.
- Pass a LGBT friendly ENDA (Employee Non-Discrimination Act). ENDA would prevent employment discrimination of LGBT workforce.
- Boycott Salvation Army as they will not hire Gays! "DO NOT DONATE TO THEM."
- BOYCOTT "Chick-fil-a" for donating money to anti-gay groups.
- BOYCOTT KOCH INDUSTRIES PRODUCTS- to include their products: Angel Soft toilet paper / Brawny paper towels / Dixie plates, bowls, napkins & cups / Mardi Gras napkins and towels / Quilted Northern toilet paper / Soft 'n Gentle toilet paper / Sparkle napkins / Vanity fair napkins / Zee napkins / Georgia-Pacific paper products & envelopes / All Georgia-Pacific lumber & building products (INVISTA Products) / Lycra / Stainmaster Carpet. The billionaire - Koch brothers are ultra republican - tea bag founders/supporters that do not support causes of the LGBT community.
- Boycott WALMART - The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force criticized Wal-Mart for denying employee benefits to same-s-x partners and for failing to prohibit discrimination based on gender identity. By comparison, the group said two other chain stores with a strong presence in New York, Costco and Walgreens, did much better.
- "Tune Out Trump", Boycott all Trump Hotel, casinos, holdings, The Apprentice and NBC Network! At CPAC, Trump said he is considering a run for president as a Republican. In a interview with the Des Moines Register, Trump added that he opposes all forms of legal recognition for gay couples, not just marriage. "They should not be able to marry," he said. So why does NBC keep the Apprentice when Donald Trump has stated he may run for president? After making racist remarks about Obama and recv'g public backlash, Trump decided not to run for president after NBC renewed his awful TV Show. How can NBC re-new the clown's show after he pulled such hateful shenanigans?

Recording of '8' with Pitt, Clooney to be on radio

The star-studded West Coast performance of the gay marriage play "8" led by George Clooney and Brad Pitt will be heard again this month - on radio and online.
A recording by L.A. Theatre Works of the March 3 performance in Los Angeles will be broadcast in the coming days on 90.7 KPFK in Southern California, 89.7 WGBH in Boston, 91.5 WBEZ in Chicago, 94.9 KUOW in Seattle, 91.1 KRCB in San Francisco, 89.3 WPFW in Washington, D.C.; and over 100 other markets nationwide. June is Gay Pride Month.
The play is about the 2010 federal court fight against Proposition 8, the gay-marriage ban that California voters approved in 2008. The play by Oscar winner Dustin Lance Black made its Broadway debut last year in similar starry fashion.
Relying largely on transcripts from court proceedings, "8" introduces viewers to the couples who challenged the California initiative, the attorneys who argued their case and witness who spoke out against them. The legal fight over Prop. 8 is ongoing.
The play made its world premiere on Broadway last year starring Morgan Freeman, Anthony Edwards, John Lithgow and Cheyenne Jackson.
The trial is important to gay activists because former U.S. Solicitor General Theodore Olson and attorney David Boies - who represented opposing sides in the disputed 2000 presidential election - put on a powerfully clear argument in favor of same-sex marriage. It was recorded but Prop. 8 backers have so far succeeded in getting the U.S. Supreme Court to bar broadcast of the landmark case.
In addition to Clooney and Pitt, the Los Angeles edition also featured Kevin Bacon, Jamie Lee Curtis, Christine Lahti, Jane Lynch, Martin Sheen and John C. Reilly. It was directed by Rob Reiner.
The Los Angeles production is also available for streaming, download and CD at www.latw.org.
