[TOWWFFC] Re: Greg Valentine

Valentine was one of the all-time great technical wrestlers in spite of being a
heel most of his career; he regularly faced Bob Backlund in main-events at MSG
and around the horn and later vs. Hogan. He had a 60 min. draw with Backlund
and one match they even "held the WWWF Title up in NY" (which seemed like a big
deal at the time!).When you went to see Greg headline a show you knew you were
in for some great wrestling. He, of course, also had many great
Inter-Continental Title title matches back when that belt truly meant something.
He also would regularly main-event vs. Tito Santana back in the 80s back when
WWF was so hot they'd run 3 shows same day around the circuit. Greg also had a
long-running feuds vs. Chief Jay Strongbow and later Ron Garvin.
In L.A. he was John Tolos' protege and he was a huge star in Mid-Atlantic and
worked all the territories as well. He slowed down late 80s and on, but late
70s-mid-80s he was a wrestling machine and as good as any heel out there. In
short, the guy has credibility to spare and one of the all-time great heels
based on longevity and accomplishments.
