Be Confident at the Gym

If you've ever gone to the gym and were overwhelmed by the sight of so much unfamiliar and complicated machinery, you're not alone. Many first-timers find it intimidating to step into a gym and figure out which machines to work out on. You want to seem confident, like you know what you're doing, like you've done this before. But don't fall into the trap of heading straight toward one familiar machine and using it for your entire workout session because you're too afraid you'll make a fool out of yourself elsewhere.

Get familiar with all of the machines in your gym! And if you don't think you can figure them out by yourself, ask for help. Most gyms have personal trainers on staff who can be utilized once, free of charge, for a complete introduction to the gym's equipment. A trainer can show you the dos and don'ts of how to use the equipment and possibly even offer some quick advice on which machines are best for your fitness goals.

If you find the idea of being assisted by a ripped personal trainer to be just as daunting as going to the gym in the first place, try going when it's not busy so you can experiment with different machines in peace. Go between 9-10 a.m., 2-4 p.m., or after 8 o'clock at night. You can mosey around and try out different machines to determine a workout strategy that works best for you. Maybe you'll start with the elliptical, head over to the stair machine and end with the treadmill. Having a strategy will help you feel confident at the gym no matter which time of day you go.
 
And remember, the more time you spend there, the more comfortable you'll be.

  • Boycott Arizona the home of "hater" - U.S. Senator John McCain. Arizona's Hateful anti-Immigration Law - encourages racial profiling and increases hatred towards minorities. A remedy: Demand Republicans to support Immigration Reform (The Dream Act). Further, Senator McCain voted against ending DADT and Blocked Immigration reform!
  • Boycott Target, Best Buy, Gold's Gym - for donating money towards anti-gay political candidates/organizations. Update: (12/26/2010): Target is continuing to donate to anti-gay groups/causes/politicians. Update 03/08/11 - Lady Gaga Ends Target Partnership, Reportedly Over Target's Poor LGBT Stance. Update 3/25/2010 - Target displays their hypocrisy and Sues California Gay Rights Group for Lobbying Outside Stores. Target is attempting to block the LGBT right of free speech! STOP SHOPPING AT TARGET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Update 4/8/2011: Target lost its case to stop the LGBT from canvassing in front of their stores. A huge PR Disaster for TARGET! Perhaps Target should go out of business as they betrayed their investers and customers. Target contributed massive funds to a politician who would like to exterminate gays. Now, Target can not stop us from Boycotting them, nor picketing, nor talking to customers near their stores; although, Target allows a anti-gay company such as the Salvation Army to stand outside their door and speak with customers and raise money. Isn't this a double standard? Perhaps TARGET would better understand the issue if they cared about David Kato - Uganda, who was slain because he is gay! That is because Uganda wants to kill gay people. Again, TARGET invested in a political candidate that would Kill the Gays!
  • End DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act). Prevents Federal employees and Gays in the Military from gaining equal benefits. Prevents Gay Partners from gaining equal benefits.
  • Pass ENDA (Employee Non-Discrimination Act). ENDA would prevent employment discrimination of LGBT workforce.
  • Boycott Salvation Army as they will not hire Gays! "DO NOT DONATE TO THEM."
  • BOYCOTT "Chick-fil-a" for donating to anti-gay marriage groups.
  • BOYCOTT KOCH INDUSTRIES PRODUCTS- to include their products: Angel Soft toilet paper / Brawny paper towels / Dixie plates, bowls, napkins & cups / Mardi Gras napkins and towels / Quilted Northern toilet paper / Soft 'n Gentle toilet paper / Sparkle napkins / Vanity fair napkins / Zee napkins / Georgia-Pacific paper products & envelopes / All Georgia-Pacific lumber & building products (INVISTA Products) / Lycra / Stainmaster Carpet. The billionaire - Koch brothers are ultra republican - tea bag founders/supporters that do not support causes of the LGBT community.
  • Boycott WALMART - The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, force criticized Wal-Mart for denying employee benefits to same-s-x partners and for failing to prohibit discrimination based on gender identity. By comparison, the group said two other chain stores with a strong presence in New York, Costco and Walgreens, did much better.
  • NEW: "Tune Out Trump", Boycott all Trump Hotel, casinos, holdings, The Apprentice and NBC Network! At CPAC, Trump said he is considering a run for president as a Republican. In a interview with the Des Moines Register, Trump added that he opposes all forms of legal recognition for gay couples, not just marriage. "They should not be able to marry," he said. So why does NBC keep the Apprentice when Donald Trump has stated he may run for president? After making racist remarks about Obama and recv'g public backlash, Trump decided not to run for president after NBC renewed his awful TV Show. How can NBC renew the clown's show after he pulled all such low-class shenanigans? Boycott NBC! Boycott advertisers of The Apprentice and Trump's other business's. Don't shop at any bullding with Donald Trump's name to include Trump Hotels, Casinos, Condo's, Offices, Shops! The Donald has expressed extreme Hatred towards gays and blacks with his birther remarks and anti-gay rhetoric. Remember how poorly Trump treated Rosie O'Donnel? Now we know why he did that! It was hate against a lesbian as we now know he is biget. Unforgiveable! Dump NBC because they re-newed Donald Trump's "The Apprentice"! NBC, Really? Update June 1, 2011: Trump now claims that Obama's long form, original birth certificate is fake. And NBC keeps this hater? NBC, You Kidding Us?

GOP, Dan Savage Go To War Over Scott Brown Gay Snub

Everyone go 'awwww'….Dan "The Barbarian" Savage has upset the Republican Party. The founder of the "It Gets Better Project" recently warned Rick "The Dick" Santorum that he would redefine 'rick' as he had redefined 'Santorum' almost a decade ago. Now, while the man who is known for his often raunchy syndicated sex column and for editing the Seattle alt-weekly The Stranger, may resort to some nasty language, one has to wonder just what the Republicans think about the company that, say, Michele Bachmann keeps. After all, Bradlee Dean is one of those who loves to praise Muslims for murdering lesbians and gays.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee issued a statement about the fact that Senator Scott Brown refused to be part of the video for the "It Gets Better Project" along with the rest of the Massachusetts delegation. They wrote: 
If, as the old saying goes, you're known by the company you keep, than the voters of Massachusetts deserve to know who Democrat Party operatives are teaming up with to spread outrageous attacks on Scott Brown's character.
 
It's truly reached a new level of desperation in their efforts to tear down Scott Brown, but we look forward to hearing whether state and national Democrat leaders agree with Dan Savage's long history of lewd, violent and anti-Christian rhetoric. Given their press conference call today, one has to presume at this point that they do.
The old saying is that if you lay down with dogs, you get up with fleas. The thing is that, the Democrats and the LGBT Community have fewer fleas than the Republican Party. Savage fired back on the NRSC saying: 
I am not the IGB project. The project has had the reach and impact that it's had thanks to tens of thousands of people from all over the world who've participated. [A]nd no one who participates is required to crawl into bed with me. ..:

It is interesting, though, that not a single GOP elected official can bring himself or herself to make a video, or participate in the creation of one. No GOP elected official can risk being seen letting bullied LGBT kids know that life isn't high school and that it will get better for them. it doesn't require signing off on the entire gay agenda (the president made a video, and he doesn't support gay marriage). No GOP elected can back the seemingly radical notion that LGBT kids shouldn't kill themselves, that they should have hope for their futures.
 
No GOP elected official can do even that -- David Cameron, meanwhile, made a video months ago. Which tells us a lot about the noisiest part of the GOP's base -- lewd (have you seen their websites?) hate groups like Focus on the Family and Americans for Truth About Homosexuality -- and how feared they are by even "moderate" senators like Scott Brown.
Still, Brown's spokesman Colin Reed fell into the usual GOP talking points when asking about this saying "Scott Brown has a strong record at the state and federal level against bullying and believes that all people regardless of sexual orientation should be treated with dignity and respect. His main focus right now is on creating jobs and getting our economy back on track."
Every gay and lesbian person who has been lucky enough to survive the turmoil of growing up is a survivor. Survivors always have an obligation to those who will face the same challenges."
