@Terry's comment:
SO TRUE! It's sad, but SSOO TRUE when it comes to "Mainstream Christianity", as well as other "hardline conservative Religious denomination's"! Thank God, I've been fortunate enough to live in a large Metropolitan City which has quite a few "gay accepting churches, including the largest gay oriented church in the world...The Cathedral of Hope, which is an awesome church to attend, here in Dallas Texas! It's really sad that religious organizations and conservative christian churches, have decided to "oust" openly gay church members, whether or not they practice homosexuality or not! Some conservative Christian churches, along with other religions, have decided to oust ANY gay church member that admits to being gay, period! Some churches subscribe to the "pray the gay away" junk science psychology, while many others just excommunicate them! Unfortunately, for gay individuals living in rural areas, their options of finding a gay friendly church, is almost non existent! When someone has been raised in a conservative religious environment, anti-gay sentiment that they've been subjected to constantly, runs deep within their Psyche, and it's very hard for many of these individual's to finally come to some sort of reconciliation and peace, with their religious beliefs and their homosexuality! Unfortunately, some never do!

I was one of those individuals for many years!! Although now, I'm at a much better place psychologically and emotionally, with my homosexuality & my Christianity in general, but I still go through days of questioning my religious beliefs as they relate to my sexual orientation! I think it's very common for individuals like myself, to be at peace most of the time, regarding this issue, but still go through times of questioning?! When one is "indoctrinated", so to speak, growing up with any "mainstream" conservative religion, if you manage to not commit suicide during those years, you usually have to go through a lot of steps and therapy, to get to a final place of peace within yourself, not to mention needing a strong support network! That doesn't mean you won't encounter times of doubt, because indoctrination is a hard thing to overcome! I know first hand what it's like, and it's a hard road to final, complete, peace within yourself!! Marki
