Re: [Peckers_Pics] Male/Gay Health-Discussion-PICS Model Wars-Oct 12, 2011-Boycott Georgia-Trump-TARGET-FOX NEWS-Salvation Army

Thanks for the advice.
I do fear sometimes that I'm a little TOO visible because I've been on TV in my local area. That's the only real concern I have is that they may recognize me and then fear that they shouldn't promote me because of that. People still think like that--even in NY

Your job is important to keep you healthy and a place to live and clothed.

That is first.

Secondly you should not be using the company computer foranything that might be controversial in the least way.

You should read and write things that could get your employer prejudiced against you at home.

If you need a job heed what I have written.  Your activism can be outside of work hours and away from th ework-place.  That is the normal procedure for anyone whether gay or straight etc.

Also you should only use the computer/internet at work during your lunch hour.

Its better to use your time that you don't need at work to help someone else wioth their work and you may get further ahead or be known as a helpful emloyee and that may get you a promotion sooner etc.

Sincerely,
Butch

I am hopefully soon to be employed and I wonder: Should I be out at work. NY has SONDA, Sexual Orientation Non Discrimination Act but we all know that there are ways around that. They can pressure you and make it so uncomfortable that you quit or in some cases, the Supervisor can do something on your computer or something in order to get a record of you doing something inappropriate at work. So, just looking at this makes me want to just not even bother being out at work. Though, I may be a bit more public than I'd like to because of activism

Health - Wellness - Exercise - Reflections:
How Stable Is Your Fitness Level?

By Jennifer Gruenemay, ACE-Certified, October 11, 2011

Stability balls and other balance equipment are anything but stable, which makes them the perfect challenge for your bored muscles. What can you expect, after all, when you do the same exercises every week? The same old results, of course. Break through your strength-training plateau and take any move to the next level by performing it on an unstable surface.

Using a stability ball, Bosu ball, wobble board, or even standing on one leg are all great ways to engage the various stabilizer muscles that contribute to overall strength, agility, balance and muscle tone.

Try crunches on a stability ball and notice how muscles throughout your legs, buttocks and core twitch as you attempt to stabilize your body on top of the ball while you move. To avoid falling off, your body is forced to use these muscles, which in turn increases the intensity and calorie-burn of the exercise itself.

Experiment with different one-legged exercises, like performing biceps curls with dumbbells while you try to balance on one leg. You will engage muscles all the way from your toes and up through your neck. If you're spending time working out anyway, why not work as many muscle groups as possible?

Once you've risen to the challenge of exercising off-balance, rise to the next challenge by doing it blind. Close your eyes and you'll lose all sense of your body in space, making it even more difficult to perform your chosen exercise.

Just remember to be cautious and perform these exercises in a space that is clear of objects you might trip over or fall on if you lose your balance, and never perform over-the-head exercises when off-balance or when your eyes are closed.
Take Action:
  • Boycott Bill O'Reilly and FOX News and their advertisers. Bill discussed a French commercial by McDonalds that was meant to show that McDonalds is Gay Friendly. Bill said what is next? Is McDonalds going to be Al-Qaida friendly as well? Imagine - Bill O'Reilly compares Gays to Al-Qaida! Further, Boycott Fox's Owner "Rupert Murcoch" and get him thrown in jail for illegal - political donations, corruption, greed, bribery, hacking!
  • Boycott Target, Best Buy, Gold's Gym - for donating money towards anti-gay political candidates/organizations.Update: (12/26/2010): Target is continuing to donate to anti-gay groups/causes/politicians. Update 03/08/11 - Lady Gaga Ends Target Partnership, Reportedly Over Target's Poor LGBT Stance. Update 3/25/2010 - Target displays their hypocrisy and Sues California Gay Rights Group for Lobbying Outside Stores. Target is attempting to block the LGBT right of free speech! STOP SHOPPING AT TARGET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Update 4/8/2011: Target lost its case to stop the LGBT from canvassing in front of their stores. A huge PR Disaster for TARGET! Perhaps Target should go out of business as they betrayed their investers and customer base. Target contributed massive funds to a politician who would like to exterminate gays. Now, Target can not stop us from Boycotting them, nor picketing, nor talking to customers near their stores; although, Target allows a anti-gay company such as the Salvation Army to stand outside their door and speak with customers and raise money. Isn't this a double standard?
  • End DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act). Prevents Federal employees and Gays in the Military from gaining equal benefits. Prevents Gay Partners from gaining equal benefits.
  • Pass a LGBT friendly ENDA (Employee Non-Discrimination Act). ENDA would prevent employment discrimination of LGBT workforce.
  • Boycott Salvation Army as they will not hire Gays! "DO NOT DONATE TO THEM."
  • BOYCOTT "Chick-fil-a" for donating money to anti-gay groups.
  • BOYCOTT KOCH INDUSTRIES PRODUCTS- to include their products: Angel Soft toilet paper / Brawny paper towels / Dixie plates, bowls, napkins & cups / Mardi Gras napkins and towels / Quilted Northern toilet paper / Soft 'n Gentle toilet paper / Sparkle napkins / Vanity fair napkins / Zee napkins / Georgia-Pacific paper products & envelopes / All Georgia-Pacific lumber & building products (INVISTA Products) / Lycra / Stainmaster Carpet. The billionaire - Koch brothers are ultra republican - tea bag founders/supporters that do not support causes of the LGBT community.
  • Boycott WALMART - The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force criticized Wal-Mart for denying employee benefits to same-s-x partners and for failing to prohibit discrimination based on gender identity. By comparison, the group said two other chain stores with a strong presence in New York, Costco and Walgreens, did much better.
  • "Tune Out Trump", Boycott all Trump Hotel, casinos, holdings, The Apprentice and NBC Network! At CPAC, Trump said he is considering a run for president as a Republican. In a interview with the Des Moines Register, Trump added that he opposes all forms of legal recognition for gay couples, not just marriage. "They should not be able to marry," he said. So why does NBC keep the Apprentice when Donald Trump has stated he may run for president? After making racist remarks about Obama and recv'g public backlash, Trump decided not to run for president after NBC renewed his awful TV Show. How can NBC re-new the clown's show after he pulled such hateful shenanigans?
  • Boycott Georgia for Execution of Troy Davis @ 11:08 EST, Sep 21, 2011:
Former US President and Former GA Gov. Jimmy Carter felt that TROY DAVIS should not be executed and deserved a re-trial. The Former Director of the FBI felt that TROY DAVIS Was Not Guilty! Do not drive through Goergia as it is dangerous. Do not fly via Atlanta. For your safety -Do not travel to GA. TELL YOUR COMPANY NOT TO PARTICIPATE IN A CONVENTION IN GA! "Georgia Executes Innocent People!"
And Now, Our War of the Fittest!

Don't Ask, Don't Tell (At Work, Anyway)
Jon Hoadley - Oct 11, 2011 - Huffington Post

Today is National Coming Out Day. But if you work in Michigan, you may want to think twice about coming out at your workplace.

That's because Michigan is among 29 states in the union where you can still be fired on the spot just for being gay, or 35 states if you're transgender. While employment laws exist on the books to protect workers on the basis of race, gender and religion, no such protections exist for employees who are singled out for their sexual orientation and gender identity.

That means you can be fired if your boss (who doesn't like gay people) overhears water cooler chat about your weekend and who you spent it with. You could be canned if she draws conclusions about your personal life from Facebook, or if she objects to the color of your shirt or music preferences.

In other words, the problem goes beyond your sexual orientation or gender identity. If you're even perceived as being gay, you could be out of a job.

If you're reading this and thinking to yourself, "Really? That's nuts," well, you'd be right.

It gets worse: last week Michigan legislators introduced a bill that would make it unlawful for cities, school districts and other units of government to take steps to protect our gay, transgender and not-gay neighbors.

This preemptive strike against the civil rights of gay and transgender people comes on the heels of a recent controversy over an Android app that claimed to help parents answer the question, "Is my son gay?" with the aid of 20 questions that probe whether he likes musical comedies or spends a "long time in the bathroom."

Google rightly killed the app following a firestorm of criticism, but not before the incident made clear that stereotypes about gay people are alive and well.

The real dangers of such stereotypical perceptions and the legislative attack on civil rights are at the forefront of a new statewide public education campaign, "Don't Change Yourself. Change the Law," launched by a coalition of civil rights groups in Michigan today in honor of National Coming Out Day.

We decided that if stereotypes of gay people can be used against all of us -- gay or straight -- then what better way to make our point than by turning these stereotypes on their heads?

The centerpiece of the campaign is a tongue-in-cheek guide, How to Look Not-Gay to protect yourself from workplace discrimination. The key? Drape yourself and your work station in the trappings of hyper-heterosexuality. Replace your current screen saver with a photo of a monster truck for the guys, or kittens for the ladies. Download instructional posters that offer guidelines on everything from facial grooming and shoe-wear to look "Not-Gay."

Behind all this satire, of course, is a serious point: looking gay can cost you your job -- and that's outrageous. We need to change our laws so that there are equal rights protections in the workplace for all Michiganders, including lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. With efforts to pass federal legislation stalled in the Republican-controlled Congress, it's more important than ever for Michiganders to insist on fairness in their own state and cities.

Most Americans are on the side of fairness on this issue. National public opinion research shows that 73 percent support workplace and employment equality. A full 65 percent of Michiganders favor such protections. It is our legislators who are out of touch.

With jobless rates at 11 percent in Michigan -- slightly above the national average -- none of us should have to live under the threat that we could lose our job just for saying or doing something some supervisor thinks is a little too gay, or gay at all. All hardworking people should have the same chance to do their job well, earn a paycheck and provide for their families. End of story.

History -- and time -- is on our side. Earlier this summer, a measure in conservative-leaning Holland, Mich. that would have prohibited employment discrimination against people on the basis of their sexual orientation and gender identity narrowly failed by just one vote in the city council. The temporary setback has created new energy and dedication by the people of Holland to overcome one out-of-touch vote, and when given the chance to vote in an August primary for a pro-ordinance candidate or an anti-ordinance candidate, the voters overwhelmingly chose the pro-ordinance candidate.

Other politicians take note: nondiscrimination is a winning issue.

The Fair Employment Practices Act, designed to make sure job-seekers -- regardless of race, color, religion or national origin -- got a fair shot at employment, was put on the books when Eisenhower was in the White House. Michiganders have continually valued equality in the workplace, since the Flint Sit-Down Strike in the 1930s defined the fight for labor equality. Safeguarding gay and transgender workers from workplace discrimination would be in keeping with Michigan's long and proud history of civil rights protections.

If you're great at your job, you shouldn't have to change anything about yourself to keep it. What really needs to change is the law.
