Take Action:
- Boycott advertisers of Glenn Beck on Fox News as well as all of FOX NEWS! Glenn has lied about Health-care, called our President a racist, and is anti-gay rights.
- We demand immediate end of DADT. It is out-right discrimination.
- Boycott Bill O'Reilly and FOX News and their advertisers. Bill discussed a French commerical by McDonalds that was meant to show that McDonalds is Gay Friendly. Bill said what is next? Is McDonalds going to get be Al-Qaida friendly as well? Further, Bill said that McDonalds would never show a gay friendly commercial in the USA. Imagine, Bill is comparing Gays to Al-Qaida.
- Boycott Arizona because of their uncivilized anti-Immigration Law that encourages racial profiling and increases hatred towards minorities. A remedy: Demand Republicans to support Immigration Reform.
- Did you complete your Diet Journal today? Get it done!
- Did you do any physical activity? If not, make a point of it by tomorrow!

Today's Health/Excercise Tip:Slow and steady might not win the weight-loss raceJuly 24, 2010 / NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - If you're trying to lose weight and keep it off, new research suggests you take up a diet and exercise plan that will help you lose a big chunk of weight right off the bat.
Some doctors and dieticians think that losing lots of weight fairly quickly makes it more likely that dieters will gain most of it back, and so they often encourage overweight and obese patients to lose weight in small increments.
But scientists have found that no matter how much weight people initially lose, they seem to gain back a similar percentage of that weight over the next year.
"I think there is more of a myth that if people do this very slowly they're going to ultimately be able to lose more weight," Dr. Deborah Tate, a clinical psychologist who studies obesity at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill who was not involved with the research, told Reuters Health.
If long-term weight is what you care about, "it should be recommended and favored that people lose a high amount of weight," said Dr. Jeroen Barte, a researcher at the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment in the Netherlands and the lead author of the new research.
Barte and his colleagues presented their findings Monday at the International Congress on Obesity in Stockholm, Sweden. Their study was also published online in Obesity Reviews in March.
The authors analyzed data from 12 different weight-loss studies covering almost 1,000 overweight and obese participants. In all of the studies, participants went through an intensive weight-loss program that gave them exercise and nutrition guidance. The programs lasted between 10 weeks and one and a half years, depending on the study.
Dieters were weighed at the beginning and end of the weight-loss programs, and again at least one year after completing the programs. The authors compared how much of their initial weight loss dieters were able to keep off for those that had lost between 5 and 10 percent of their body weight and those that had lost more than 10 percent.
The average participant started at 209 pounds and lost about 20 pounds over the course of the program. One year later, no matter how much weight they had initially lost, participants had gained back an average of about half that weight.
That meant that the dieters who had initially dropped the most weight also ended up with the best long-term results.
The findings are part of a growing number of studies that show that slow and steady weight loss might not be the way to go, said Tate. The evidence, she said, shows that "We should perhaps be encouraging better initial weight loss."
That doesn't mean that people should be dropping pounds at unsafe levels. One or two pounds per week is still the recommended rate for people trying to lose weight, she confirmed.
The authors say that future studies should follow dieters for longer than one year after their initial weight loss to truly understand the long-term impacts of that initial loss.
But for now, they say, doctors should encourage weight loss of 10 percent or more in their overweight and obese patients if the goal is to have them at their slimmest down the road.

July 25, 2010 / Change . OrgTarget, practically everyone's favorite discount retail store, is headquartered in Minnesota, the land of 10,000 lakes. But along with precious bodies of water, Minnesota is home to some pretty rabid anti-gay politicians and groups. Among them include Tom Emmer. And Target, it seems, is apparently filling his campaign coffers with nearly $150,000.Follow the money. At least, that's the message delivered by an article at "sfist" by Matt Baume, who tracks $150,000 from Target's coffers, through a political action committee (PAC) known as Minnesota Forward, all the way to Tom Emmer, who himself supports a Christian rock band in Minnesota that travels around the state saying that it's moral and righteous for religious people to kill gays and lesbians.
For those into algebra, it looks a little like this: Target + Minnesota Forward + Tom Emmer = Support for a rather dangerous and radical political philosophy that diminishes LGBT people to pests that should be murdered. And Target is cool with this?
Send the company a message right now, urging them to explain why their money is being used to fund a politics that not only serves to prevent LGBT equality, but breeds homophobia, transphobia and hatred.
Tom Emmer has made it pretty clear where he stands on the issue of LGBT rights.
"I believe marriage is the union between one man and one woman," Emmer says on his Web site. "As a legislator, I have consistently supported the constitutional marriage amendment that protects traditional marriage."
OK, perhaps you're saying that while it's not great that Emmer is so anti- marriage equality, he's no different than many within American politics. Perhaps that's true. But it's Emmer's affiliation with a Christian right rock band, You Can Run But You Cannot Hide, that should not only have Target's head spinning, but all of ours, too.
You Can Run But You Cannot Hide is fronted by a man named Bradlee Dean. And Tom Emmer is a buddy-buddy with Dean and his band. "These are nice people," Emmer said of the band, who have appeared at various Minnesota GOP functions, from statewide conventions to political candidate soirées.
But here's what Bradlee Dean has said about LGBT people.
"Muslims are calling for the executions of homosexuals in America. This just shows you they themselves are upholding the laws that are even in the Bible of the Judeo-Christian God, but they seem to be more moral than even the American Christians do, because these people are livid about enforcing their laws. They know homosexuality is an abomination," Dean previously said.
And there's more. "[Homosexuals] play the victim when they are, in fact, the predator. On average, they molest 117 people before they're found out. How many kids have been destroyed, how many adults have been destroyed because of crimes against nature?" Yup, that's another Dean comment.
Meanwhile, Emmer continues to call these folks 'nice.' Talk about a pretty effed up definition of 'nice.'
So why wouldn't Target take better care to make sure their money wasn't going to someone who absolutely abhors LGBT equality, and hangs around people who believes it's sweet for gay people to be slaughtered? After all, Target does have a number of gay-friendly policies, including domestic partner benefits. And it remains quite popular among the LGBT retail crowd.
But is their support from the gay community deserved? Especially if they're dropping six figures down on candidates working hard to keep LGBT people second class citizens?
Send Target a message now, urging them to explain this donation, and to adamantly condemn the type of fear-based politics that folks like Tom Emmer and You Can Run But You Cannot Hide profit off of. Simply put, Target should know better, and they should do a better job of following their political contributions to make sure they're not funding anti-gay politics.
"Every gay and lesbian person who has been lucky enough to survive the turmoil of growing up is a survivor. Survivors always have an obligation to those who will face the same challenges."
