Hey Don-
Update on Maine Street. We were there Saturday night ready to protest. Those coming in to the bar that were shirtless were harassed by police and told to put on clothes. Apparently the police flash "trained" rent a cops for the evening to beef up their numbers to over 10 cops for the evening. Once pressed, gay friends asked what laws were being violated and with no there there, the police were forced to let them go. A complaint was lodged with the police today for their actions. Too tame for me, but folks were not feeling radical enough in the crowd to cause a riot. Disappointing.

Subject: "Cultural activism" in Ogunquit
The Town of Ogunquit, ME cited the Main Street bar for health code violations this past week because its bartenders were working shirtless. The Maine community is organizing a defiant response. Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon patrons are urged to come to Main Street either shirtless or dressed in white. It’s not quite the same thing as political action but definitely gay-affirming resistance to the self-appointed shirt police. Health code violation? Please.
