Health - Wellness - Exercise - Reflections:Resolution Kick-Start: Snap a PhotoBy James Beckerman, M.D. / January 04, 2011Ready to start your weight-loss journey? The first step is to recognize your starting point. Weight loss can sometimes seem like a goal that has no shape to it, but taking a photo of yourself right now, today can give it definite shape: yours. And, let's face it, when push comes to shove, and that leftover ice cream in the freezer seems like a pretty good midnight snack, there's nothing like a glossy 8x10 hanging on the bathroom mirror to keep you motivated.
So find a spot in your house without a distracting background and snap that photo. No need for fancy equipment or clothing; just keep it real and away from Photoshop.
Once you pass 30-, 60- and 90-day benchmarks on your weight-loss journey, take another photo in the same setting - no tanning or professional lighting allowed to augment reality.
Actually, there won't be a need.
The picture will say a thousand words.Always look up!
- Boycott advertisers of Glenn Beck - Fox News. Glenn Beck is anti-gay rights.
- Update: DADT has been repealed. President Obama has kept his promise!
- Boycott Bill O'Reilly and FOX News and their advertisers. Bill discussed a French commercial by McDonalds that was meant to show that McDonalds is Gay Friendly. Bill said what is next? Is McDonalds going to be Al-Qaida friendly as well? Imagine - Bill O'Reilly compares Gays to Al-Qaida!
- Boycott Arizona the home of "hater" - U.S. Senator John McCain. Arizona's Hateful anti-Immigration Law - encourages racial profiling and increases hatred towards minorities. A remedy: Demand Republicans to support Immigration Reform (The Dream Act). Further, Senator McCain voted against ending DADT and Blocked Immigration reform!
- Boycott Target, Best Buy, Gold's Gym - for donating money towards anti-gay political candidates/organizations. Update: (12/26/2010): Target is continuing to donate to anti-gay groups/causes/politicians.
- End DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act). Prevents Federal employees and Gays in the Military from gaining equal benefits. Prevents Gay Partners from gaining equal benefits.
- Pass ENDA (Employee Non-Discrimination Act). ENDA would prevent employment discrimination of LGBT workforce.
- Boycott Salvation Army as they will not hire Gays! "DO NOT DONATE TO THEM."
And Now, Our War of the Fittest!

Whereas, you should select the guy that may inspire you to exercise and "get fit!" Warning: This may stoke you!Your participation in discussion of health / news articles - appearing in this message is greatly appreciated.

Jan 4, 2011 / Reuters / by Dan LevineSAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - A appeals court mulling California's controversial gay marriage ban said on Tuesday it needs more legal guidance before it can decide the constitutional issues at stake, which will likely delay a final ruling in the case.
California voters banned same sex weddings in 2008 by approving so-called Proposition 8. But last year a federal district court ruled the measure unconstitutional.
That ruling is on hold as supporters of the gay marriage ban appealed. But then-Attorney General and now Governor Jerry Brown refused to sign on to the appeal. Then-Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger also took the same stance.
In an order released on Tuesday, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals asked the Supreme Court of California whether initiative supporters have the authority to defend a ballot measure when public officials refuse to do so.
The state Supreme Court could answer in "a matter of months," said San Francisco Chief Deputy City Attorney Therese Stewart, who helped litigate against the gay marriage ban.
The state Supreme Court could decide to hold its own hearing on the matter, said Hastings College of the Law Professor Rory Little. Whatever the state court rules, the case will then return to the 9th Circuit for a final opinion, Little said.
"I feel like it's a bit of a stall," Little said.
Once the 9th Circuit rules, the case could be appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court.
More than 40 U.S. states have outlawed same sex marriage, but the California challenge could have a national impact if the U.S. Supreme Court decides to review the 9th Circuit decision.
Attorneys for both sides did not immediately comment.
