High blood sugars over a long period of time can increase stiffness of tissue around your finger joints. This can eventually cause stiff hands and prevent you from straightening your fingers, making it difficult to write or to pick up small items and do other fine movements.
A test for this condition is called the "prayer sign," in which you hold your hands together, one palm facing the other palm, to see whether your fingers can lie flat against each other.
If a space exists between your right and left hands when you try to push your hands together, this is a "positive" prayer sign. High sugars may be causing this condition. Arthritis can also cause a positive prayer sign.
In the future, new medications may become available that will reduce the stiffness, says the American Diabetes Association (ADA). To minimize the chances of developing this stiffness now, the ADA recommends that you keep your blood sugars as close to your goal range as possible.
- Boycott advertisers of Glenn Beck - Fox News. Glenn Beck is anti-gay rights.
- Update: DADT has been repealed. President Obama has kept his promise!
- Boycott Bill O'Reilly and FOX News and their advertisers. Bill discussed a French commercial by McDonalds that was meant to show that McDonalds is Gay Friendly. Bill said what is next? Is McDonalds going to be Al-Qaida friendly as well? Imagine - Bill O'Reilly compares Gays to Al-Qaida!
- Boycott Arizona the home of "hater" - U.S. Senator John McCain. Arizona's Hateful anti-Immigration Law - encourages racial profiling and increases hatred towards minorities. A remedy: Demand Republicans to support Immigration Reform (The Dream Act). Further, Senator McCain voted against ending DADT and Blocked Immigration reform!
- Boycott Target, Best Buy, Gold's Gym - for donating money towards anti-gay political candidates/organizations. Update: (12/26/2010): Target is continuing to donate to anti-gay groups/causes/politicians.
- End DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act). Prevents Federal employees and Gays in the Military from gaining equal benefits. Prevents Gay Partners from gaining equal benefits.
- Pass ENDA (Employee Non-Discrimination Act). ENDA would prevent employment discrimination of LGBT workforce.
- Boycott Salvation Army as they will not hire Gays! "DO NOT DONATE TO THEM."
- Remember David Kato, Gay activist - Uganda, who was slain because he is gay!

COMMENTARY with VIDEO: Rachel Maddow examines "The Murder of David Kato"

MSNBC superstar Rachel Maddow takes an in-depth look at "The Murder of David Kato," an expose whose broadcast was delayed by the people's revolution in Egypt.
Maddow joins a long line of journalists and activists around the world who are linking the slaying of Ugandan gay rights activist David Kato to American religious right hatemongers who are fanning the flames of homophobia in Africa as a way to raise money and gain converts.
She cites the work of anti-gay pastor Scott Lively and a Richard Cohen staffer who went to Uganda under the guise as experts on homosexuality to spread the message that gays were out to recruit children and spread disease. She also scoffs at Cohen's claim that gays could be turned straight, an allegation that has been disproved by the scientific and medical communities.
In the video, note the words of comfort provided by Ugandan Bishop Christopher Senyonjo during the funeral for Kato after an Anglican priest began condemning homosexuality during the service and refusing to bury the casket.
"Every gay and lesbian person who has been lucky enough to survive the turmoil of growing up is a survivor. Survivors always have an obligation to those who will face the same challenges."
