Jake,
I have no argument with you or anybody else who is working to make a change. My thoughts are that you do not have the benifit of age and experience. I do not seek to inflame or even argue. I mistakenly thought it would be okay to offer a thought or two that maybe has not been considered.
I apologize if I offended. I will offer no more thoughts.

Moderator: I regret that you feel that way. But, i simply disagreed. 1st you do not want old people making decisions, than you state the benifit of age. I have to tell you, i never thought of this as a age issue. Benifit of age gave us Reagon. Sure you want to go there? lololol. I try not to comment as i get myself in trouble as i do not appear as a opinion, but soley as a moderator. I do not think that our problems are one of age. Unfortunately, it is the elite controlling the masses. The only masses that appear to be vooting right now are those with hate. This is similar circumstance that brought Germany to elect Hitler. Hence, we have Perry, Bachmann, Palin, etc. These are hateful people using the haters (who will go out to vote) to get elected. I take critism daily, but, that does not shut me up. That should not happen you as well. You are not a hater. I just feel that we have leaders and we need to vote for more that agree with us. Things have changed and preventing global warming needed to be adressed in the 1900's and not the 2000's. Reversal is no longer do-able. Ecomomics have placed everything in peril. Those with out jobs, those who are wealthy, those who are bigoted will not vote democratic. Democratics did not come out and vote in 2008. This is a dismal event that can not be undone as the damage has deepended. SS disability shall be insolvent in just a few yrs. We as a country have ignored facts. Jake,
ÂÂ
I profoundly support your vision with regard to rights. Please note that I made no mention of politicians who might coagulate Americans of every stripe who is tired, even exhausted by politician. I failed miserably to indicate that a grass roots effort, sans politicians, might coalesce. While I am fervent in my support for equal rights, I go beyond that, I also have economic, social, governmental concerns that might be favorably address by just plain old people, such as myself.

Moderator: John, I understand. But, the democratics (because of Blue Dogs within their own party) were unable to agree to end the Bush era Tax cuts of the wealthy. The democratics because of Blue dogs were unable to lower medicare to 55. This would have allowed many baby boomers to retire early, freeing up jobs for the college grads during a deep recession. The stimulus prevented a great depression. No doubt about it. There are multitude of other items never delivered because the Blue Dogs and Republicans blocked the vote. We the democratics never even had 60 vote majority require din Senate to prevent filibuster. But, i can go on and on, this group is for the LGBT community. The OBamabiden2008 group is where this and other issues should be discussed. Correct? ......and i do thank you for your input and passion. But, we have a leader and a good one. But, people can not sit back and not vote because everything is not perfect (recession/depression). Pres.
Obama had to work harder to gain the presidency because of his color. He is attacked with racial slurs on daily basis. You know it, i know it and we have encountered Friends that are bigots. This country and no country will move forward until it deals with hate. ....jake

We are all (or at least most) of us are sick and tired of rhetoric. Yes, I believe that many Amercians are sick and tired of "business as usual" from both parties. We write letters, emails, etc., yet nobody seems to have a plan. Anybody out there besides me who is ready to DO something? Anybody want to step forward as an organizer, spokesman/woman?
Moderator: Actually, I vehemently disagree. Rep House minority Speaker has a plan. Unfortunately, she never was electable as Pres. of the USA. This woman can get the job (any job) done! Also, Pres. Obama has always had a plan. But, even when the Democratics held the majority, too many of them were "Blue Dog" Democratics. Blue Dogs are former Republicans that left the Republican Party following Lincoln. The Blue Dogs - coupled with Republicans have blocked almost everything. But, do not forget that Pres. Obama did sign the hate crime Bill that protects the lgbt community. He reversed DADT, as well. How quickly we forget!!!!! Yes, Pres. Obama has a plan and if "we the people" elected democratics to the US House, we would have reversed DOMA. If Americans come to their senses, Pres. Obama now plans to reverse DOMA in his sencond term if progressive democratics can take back the House of Reps and maintain the Senate. Doma can not be reversed with a anti-gay
Republican House of Representatives. Again, stand by your current president and vote! How many gay people publicly attack me for supporting Pres. Obama. You seriously think that "a" Pres. Romney, or any other republican would have signed the hate crime bill and/or, reversed DADT? Are we in fantasy land. Democratics have protected you, you just need to vote for them. Our not voting in the last 2010 election crippled us. If Pres. Obama is defeated in 2012, say goodbye to Pres. Obama's Health care plan that shall protect people with HIV and other pre-existing illness's from gaining medical insurance. Any of you have HIV, or friends with HIV? You tell me how bad, difficult it is with-out ability to get health insurance. I am tired of people stating that democratics have no plan. They have given the LGBT community almost everything (more than I ever imagined), under Pres. Obama. The apathy I hear disgusts me! Too many of you are listening to FOX chatter and
if you hear it long enough, you start to believe it. .....jake

I totally agree! At the federal level we hear the most strident, unbelievable comments with candidates and seated members of the Republican party. I've long wondered why the Democratic elements are not more forceful in refuting the stuff that they produce to condemn and bad mouth the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community. I've watched carefully as our President, Barrack Obama, has been "nice" to the opposing forces in our government. It's time to take off those frigging gloves and demand a few things. We are a secular government. If you wish to rule people, become a minister but stay out of politics. Those who are using their religious pulpits to push so-called christian candidates should be much more concerned about their religious exemption from taxes. The entire Republican party should be willing to solve our financial problems by getting rid of the Bush tax cuts. Even Grover Norquist doesn't consider that a tax increase. Grow a pair and
start FIGHTING!

I can't agree with this article at all.  The anti-gay groups (Focus on the Family, Family Research Council, etc.,) don't just have a different "opinion" or "belief".  They go out of their way to suppress OUR rights, calling us sinners, equating our relationships with child molesters or those who practice bestiality, and promote violence against us.  There is no need to be politically correct about it.  That's HATE, plain and simple, and the dictionary defines it as it is.  Yes, HATE is a hurtful word, but HURT is what they do to us, so why should be be timid about it?
It's so one-sided... We're not in their face to turn straight people gay, all we want is equal rights.
Fighting back with strong language is an effective weapon, and the article says so -- kudos to those companies who dissociate themselves with the hate groups.  As such, we should embrace and amplify the message that the word says.
