Jake asked me to say something to the members of Peckers_Pics regarding the Proposed Petition for Redress and Pledge of Action.
First,I know the Proposed Petition is a somewhat long document. There are a number of reasons for that. The last paragraph is where the action is. I won't be offended if you skip to the end, but I think you will find the entire thing builds to that list of remedies sought and action promised.
Second, the Proposed Petition deliberately does not include any specifics with regard to the problems facing this country or possible answers to those problems. I have seen many documents that address the specifics. New ones appear every day. A lot of them appear to be very well thought out. However, the purpose of the Proposed Petition is to demonstrate to our government, the corporations, and the wealthy that Americans are ready for fundamental change.
Last, the essential part of all of this is seeking and getting the agreement of as many people in this country as we possibly can. The Occupy movement claims to speak for the ninety-nine percent. That's tens of millions of people. The one thing I have learned in life that has helped me more than anything is that the question only gets answered if it is asked. Ask the ninety-nine percent one by one: Do you agree with the Proposed Petition for Redress and Pledge of Action? The answer will be yes or no. We need to see how many people want change. This will show us.
