Those who stand up for what is right are targets.  You have that so right, Jake.
If we look at those folks who had courage of their convictions, they suffered
at least the scorn of others and often were killed.  We have people like Lincoln,
Gandhi, MLKing, Oscar Romero, etc. who stood up to fight for the rights of
others...hmmm...often not even their own rights, come to think of these
examples.  Persecution is going to happen.  To hide from it doesn't make it
go away.  Standing up makes you a bigger target, but even if you hide, you
still have that bulls eye on your back.  Yep, "we are all not safe."

Wayne, In so many ways, i feel you make a valid Point. I know that in every thing i do, i make a lot of enemies. There is no way possible i can make peace with every one. However, i do make mistakes. From time to time the personal insults i get in my mailbox are disgusting, threatening and i take it out on the wrong people. Sometimes, I need to breath, or take a day off from the group. But, in the long run, i need to fight, despite the fact that there will be people who will disagree with me as they are anti-Obama, or republican, or hard-line religious followers. And, there are gay pmembers who just do not care about gay rights. Just as there were Jews in Germany at one point in the past who were disinterested in Hitler. One would be surprised at how many members in this group just look at the pics and watch Fox News.

A man I most admired (before my time) would be Harvey Milk. He was calming; but, he had to make difficult decisions and do what was right. I believe that Bear would be on Harvey's side. I believe that Harvey Milk did attempt to look for the good in people and attempt to talk to people. He attempted a dialog. However, in the bitter end, he made the bitter hard-line (fighting) decision that got him killed.

We are not all safe for being gay nor fighting for our rights.

What do you think BEAR?

...Jake

Indeed, on the occasion that I have negative thoughts, I experience the same feelings I get from eating greasy food: very unsatisfied, unhealthy, and wondering why I bit into it in the first place. Look around and see where negativity has gotten us lately. Perhaps we need to ignore those things that are unpleasant, hurtful or disagreeable. Perhaps we need to use our energies, communications, relationships, time in positive, progressive endeavors. Given the choice, I'd rather do things, say things, take part in things that will make me happier. What a different world it would be if we all started to try to make everything we do into a pleasant experience.

However, i am not a oog d judge to say if that is acceptable. Pretty much all i can not is just come up with a short list list of companies to not go to. That leaves all others in the clear for the gay community. I am just nervous, if i place a list that is OK, I will be attacked by other groups, Green, union, etc. Therefore, i am just sticking to anti-gay companies that are not safe. However, if members would like to work on this (as i get my references from the LGBT commmunity, news services, etc), I would appreciate the assistance. I can not do this alone. Just last night, i heard Keith Olbermann say do not shop at lowes. Soif you just take our short list of anti-gay companies not to shop at, it leaves a long list of companies you can shop at - in the thousands. ....Jake
