It's Only A Matter Of Time
Let me address a common issue I encounter daily that also creates trouble for those seeking weight loss. In a word, it's TIME! Many people feel overwhelmed by the amount of time it takes to see real results. Time is a very interesting experience for us humans and creates a big problem for many people when trying to lose weight.
As a matter of fact, time has been the subject of many songs and many poems over the years. Time is an interesting animal because it can be your best friend, or it can be your worst enemy. It all depends on the situation you're in. However, in weight loss and wellness, your perception of time can make or break your effort.
There are many reasons that people struggle with weight management, but one of the most common is the frustration that often arises out of impatience with the amount of time it takes to see results. In short, your perception of time has a dramatic influence on your motivation to continue and, ultimately, your ability to succeed.Aside from music and poetry, time has also been addressed by some of our most brilliant thinkers. Take Albert Einstein, for example. Einstein proposed an interesting concept about time that he called the space-time illusion. It concerns itself with and addresses how people interpret and estimate the passage of time. This concept revolves around two different types of time. Einstein referred to them as linear time and subjective time.
In short, linear time is that which can be objectively measured. A clock, for example, is a good measure of linear time. A minute is a minute no matter what you're doing or where you are. Subjective time, on the other hand, doesn't lend itself to objective measurement. It's totally dependent on the experience you are engaged in and your state of mind.
In explaining the difference between the two, Einstein said: "Spending a minute sitting on a hot stove seems like an hour, while spending an hour with a beautiful girl seems like a minute."
What he was implying was that the passage of time depends on each situation you find yourself in. I'm sure you agree with this. If you're bored, for example, time seems to drag; if you have a deadline to meet, time's running out; if you're having great fun, time flies; and, if you're trying to lose weight, time simply doesn't pass quickly enough.
So it's your perception of the passage of time that dictates the severity of your emotional struggle. Whether you experience time as passing quickly or standing still will set the tone for how difficult your weight loss journey will be. How you interpret the passage of time, in your mind, creates the level of emotional intensity you feel in the process.This is why focusing on pounds lost and weight-loss deadlines are so counterproductive for so many people. The bottom line is this: To a person wanting to lose 100 pounds, a year or two often seems like an eternity. Time simply gets distorted in their minds and doesn't pass quickly enough to supply the required motivation to continue.
I think the reason that most people feel like quitting after a week or two with little or no success is that their subjective perception of time convinces them that it will just never happen. When it is all said and done, your success is really only a matter of time!

- Boycott Bill O'Reilly and FOX News and their advertisers. Bill discussed a French commercial by McDonalds that was meant to show that McDonalds is Gay Friendly. Bill said what is next? Is McDonalds going to be Al-Qaida friendly as well? Imagine - Bill O'Reilly compares Gays to Al-Qaida! Further, Boycott Fox's Owner "Rupert Murcoch" and get him thrown in jail for illegal - Take Action:
political donations, corruption, greed, bribery, hacking! - Boycott Target, Best Buy, Gold's Gym - for donating money towards anti-gay political candidates/organizations. Update: (12/26/2010): Target is continuing to donate to anti-gay groups/causes/politicians. Update 03/08/11 - Lady Gaga Ends Target Partnership, Reportedly Over Target's Poor LGBT Stance. Update 3/25/2010 - Target displays their hypocrisy and Sues California Gay Rights Group for Lobbying Outside Stores. Target is attempting to block the LGBT right of free speech! STOP SHOPPING AT TARGET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Update 4/8/2011: Target lost its case to stop the LGBT from canvassing in front of their stores. A huge PR Disaster for TARGET! Perhaps Target should go out of business as they betrayed their investers and customer base. Target contributed massive funds to a politician who would like to exterminate gays. Now, Target can not stop us from Boycotting them, nor picketing, nor talking to customers near their stores; although, Target allows a anti-gay company such as the Salvation Army to stand outside their door and speak with customers and raise money. Isn't this a double standard?
- End DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act). Prevents Federal employees and Gays in the Military from gaining equal benefits. Prevents Gay Partners from gaining equal benefits.
- Pass a LGBT friendly ENDA (Employee Non-Discrimination Act). ENDA would prevent employment discrimination of LGBT workforce.
- Boycott Salvation Army as they will not hire Gays! "DO NOT DONATE TO THEM."
- BOYCOTT "Chick-fil-a" for donating money to anti-gay groups.
- BOYCOTT KOCH INDUSTRIES PRODUCTS- to include their products: Angel Soft toilet paper / Brawny paper towels / Dixie plates, bowls, napkins & cups / Mardi Gras napkins and towels / Quilted Northern toilet paper / Soft 'n Gentle toilet paper / Sparkle napkins / Vanity fair napkins / Zee napkins / Georgia-Pacific paper products & envelopes / All Georgia-Pacific lumber & building products (INVISTA Products) / Lycra / Stainmaster Carpet. The billionaire - Koch brothers are ultra republican - tea bag founders/supporters that do not support causes of the LGBT community.
- Boycott WALMART - The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force criticized Wal-Mart for denying employee benefits to same-s-x partners and for failing to prohibit discrimination based on gender identity. By comparison, the group said two other chain stores with a strong presence in New York, Costco and Walgreens, did much better.
- "Tune Out Trump", Boycott all Trump Hotel, casinos, holdings, The Apprentice and NBC Network! At CPAC, Trump said he is considering a run for president as a Republican. In a interview with the Des Moines Register, Trump added that he opposes all forms of legal recognition for gay couples, not just marriage. "They should not be able to marry," he said. So why does NBC keep the Apprentice when Donald Trump has stated he may run for president? After making racist remarks about Obama and recv'g public backlash, Trump decided not to run for president after NBC renewed his awful TV Show. How can NBC re-new the clown's show after he pulled such hateful shenanigans?

Elections official resigns over gay marriage ban

RALEIGH, N.C.- The elections director in socially conservative Harnett County has resigned, saying she could not in good conscience preside over the upcoming vote on a proposed amendment to the state constitution banning same-sex marriage.
Sherre Toler says her romantic relationship with a man of a different race cemented her belief that the civil rights of couples in love should not be put to a popular vote.
Elections workers are discouraged from expressing personal opinions about issues on the ballot so that they don't feed a perception that those counting the votes are biased. The 51-year-old registered Democrat had the job 11 years.
Toler told The Associated Press her Jan. 3 resignation will enable her to speak out about an issue she is passionate about and work with groups seeking to defeat the May referendum.
