Ken, I completely agree and share your anger and disbelief, in how the republicans can be so calloused in their thinking toward ANYONE but themselves!! Your assumption is correct in that any republican made to live on Social Security for even 1 month, would end up crying and stomping their little feet in complete failure! There will always be people that have more than others, and there will always be people that have less than others! That's just how capitalism works. Unless one prefers communism, but I wouldn't recommend it, that's how it will always be in America. However, reforming our complicated tax system, is 1 of the first steps in making taxation fair across the board! If America patterned its tax system after some European countries, no one would have anything to complain about, because everyone would be paying the same amount of tax % of their income. If you look at the numbers in this scenario, it would solve the entire tax debate! There would be no loopholes, write offs, deductions, entitlements etc... Everyone would pay a flat percentage of their annual income. This would translate to the poor paying much less than the rich, since it would be based on annual income. As far as corporations paying taxes, if they did not pay their fair share of taxes, then they wouldn't be able to operate as a "person" in the next year's stock market, and would end up paying more taxes in the long run! Of course republicans would throw an absolte fit over the idea, because they want the rich to not pay anything! They do not care about fairness, when it comes to taxation. Our tax system is an old and antiquated, complicated system! It's very hard to tell exactly what someone is paying in taxes, much less corporations. The republicans want to keep it that way, continuing to confuse the majority of American citizens! Once a strong, stable, taxation system is in place, the next priority would be to reform Medicare, and introduce a universal healthcare system! It doesn't matter what you call the healthcare system a country uses, what matters is that every american would have healthcare coverage! We americans have a bad habit of presuming that we do everything the best! Not only is this not true, but we can already see other countries passing us by, from healthcare to technology, and certainly education! Most developed countries with universal healthcare coverage, have a longer life expectancy! America has to and MUST make a choice.... Do we want to be the leader in this global world economy, or not? I hope "The American People", will realize this before it's too late?! Sent from "Marki's" Android O.S. 2.4 LG Optimus (Smartphone). |
