Beside...most European progressive countries recognize Same-Sex marraige. I cannot not understand why the USA is so prudish and backwards when it comes to individual and civil rights!

Congratulations to the President for coming out in support of same sex
marriage/Civil Rights of Gays. Obama showed he believes in the civil rights of
Gays!
At the heart of the same sex marriage issue is the very important legal rights
of gay men and women to be the same as a husband and wife as far as property,
benefits, etc. The Republicans see this once again as a last ditched attempt to
turn voters against the President. Hopefully the American people will not fall
for the same ploy again [ala Bush and Al Gore when some churches and Americans
allowed themselves to be used to deflect attention from all the positive things
that needed to be accomplished by stirring up a religious debate about same sex
marriage, which really is a Civil Rights and Equal Protection under the law
issue for ALL AMERICANS!!!] Now here they are again using the same tactic to
attack Obama because they realize Obama has done a great job on the equal rights
of Women, Gays, etc. as well as positive accomplishments on Education,
Healthcare, Global Warming and saving the economy, bailing out GM, keeping us
from a "Depression!"
We need to support and send a message at the State Level by voting OUT
Congressional candidates who oppose the Civil Rights of Gays and Women!!! Don't
be fooled by letting the Republicans confuse and cloud What is clearly a Legal
and Civil Rights issue with a religious one!
