Alert: Target + Minnesota Forward + Tom Emmer = Support for a rather dangerous and radical political philosophy that diminishes LGBT people to pests that should be murdered. And "Target" is cool with this?   in San Diego we peacefully canvassed customers near their stores.  In return, TARGET is suing the LGBT community for voicing our right of FREE SPEECH! Now, Target lost in court! David beat Goliath!    AWWW!   Return everything you bought to TARGET and tell them why!  ....Boycott TARGET!!!!!

The Dark Side of Omega 3s

Men's Health, May 5, 2011, -Kiera Aaron

Omega-3s are good, right? They reduce your risk of stroke and heart disease, and can even fight depression.

Except: New research links them to a rare--but serious--type of prostate cancer.

"We thought that omega-3s would decrease the risk because they decrease inflammation, which can lead to prostate cancer," says Theodore Brasky, Ph.D., researchers at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, and lead author of the study. "But that's not what we found."

In the study, Brasky's team took blood samples from a group of cancer-free men. Seven years later, men with the highest levels of blood DHA -- a type of omega-3 fatty acid that comes from fish--were 2.5 times more likely to have high-grade prostate cancer than those with the lowest levels. (Other types of omega-3s didn't show a link to the cancer.)

Not just that, high levels of unhealthy trans fats appeared to reduce the risk of the cancer by 50 percent.

The researchers found no association between the fats and low-grade prostate cancer, which is more common and also less deadly.

So what's the takeaway? Don't toss your omega-3 supplements just yet. High-grade cancer only comprises 14 percent of all prostate cancers--and the heart-healthy benefits of omega-3s far outweigh any prostate risk. "A man's risk of dying from heart disease is much greater than his risk of dying from this rare form of prostate cancer," Brasky explains.
Take Action:
  • Boycott advertisers of Glenn Beck - Fox News.  Glenn Beck is anti-gay rights. Update: Boycott Successful: Update 4/7/2011: Beck has been fired by FOX NEWS!  Radio stations dropping Beck as well in several locations
  • Update: DADT has been repealed. President Obama has kept his promise!
  • Boycott Bill O'Reilly and FOX News and their advertisers.  Bill discussed a French commercial by McDonalds that was meant to show that McDonalds is Gay Friendly. Bill said what is next? Is McDonalds going to be Al-Qaida friendly as well?  Imagine - Bill O'Reilly compares Gays to Al-Qaida!
  • Boycott Arizona the home of  "hater" - U.S. Senator John McCain. Arizona's Hateful anti-Immigration Law - encourages racial profiling and increases hatred towards minorities.  A remedy: Demand Republicans to  support Immigration Reform (The Dream Act). Further, Senator McCain voted against ending DADT and Blocked Immigration reform!
  • Boycott Target, Best Buy, Gold's Gym - for donating money towards anti-gay political candidates/organizations. Update: (12/26/2010): Target is continuing to donate to anti-gay groups/causes/politicians.  Update 03/08/11 - Lady Gaga Ends Target Partnership, Reportedly Over Target's Poor LGBT Stance. Update 3/25/2010 - Target displays their hypocrisy and Sues California Gay Rights Group for Lobbying Outside Stores.  Target is attempting to block the LGBT right of free speech!  STOP SHOPPING AT TARGET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Update 4/8/2011: Target lost it's case to stop the LGBT from canvassing in front of their stores.  A huge PR Disaster for TARGET!  Perhaps Target should go out of business as they betrayed their investers and customer base. Target contributed massive funds to a politician who would like to exterminate gays.  Now, Target can not stop us from Boycotting them, nor picketing, nor talking to customers near their stores; although,  Target allows a anti-gay company such as the Salvation Army to stand outside their door and speak with customers and raise money. Isn't this a double standard?
  • End DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act).  Prevents Federal employees and Gays in the Military from gaining equal benefits. Prevents Gay Partners from gaining equal benefits.
  • Pass ENDA (Employee Non-Discrimination Act).  ENDA would prevent employment discrimination of  LGBT workforce.
  • Boycott Salvation Army as they will not hire Gays! "DO NOT DONATE TO THEM."
  • BOYCOTT "Chick-fil-a" for donating to anti-gay marriage groups.
  • BOYCOTT KOCH INDUSTRIES PRODUCTS- to include their products: Angel Soft toilet paper / Brawny paper towels / Dixie plates, bowls, napkins & cups / Mardi Gras napkins and towels / Quilted Northern toilet paper / Soft 'n Gentle toilet paper / Sparkle napkins / Vanity fair napkins / Zee napkins / Georgia-Pacific paper products & envelopes / All Georgia-Pacific lumber & building products (INVISTA Products) / Lycra / Stainmaster Carpet.   The billionaire - Koch brothers are ultra republican - tea bag founders/supporters that do not support causes of the LGBT community.
  • Boycott WALMART - The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, force criticized Wal-Mart for denying employee benefits to same-s-x partners and for failing to prohibit discrimination based on gender identity. By comparison, the group said two other chain stores with a strong presence in New York, Costco and Walgreens, did much better.
  • Remember David Kato, Gay activist - Uganda, who was slain because he is gay!
  • NEW: "Tune Out Trump", Boycott all Trump Hotel, casinos, holdings, The Apprentice and NBC Network! At CPAC, Trump said he is considering a run for president as a Republican. In a interview with the Des Moines Register, Trump added that he opposes all forms of legal recognition for gay couples, not just marriage. "They should not be able to marry," he said. So why does NBC keep the Apprentice when Donald Trump has stated he may run for president? Boycott NBC, CNBC! Boycott advertisers of The Apprentice and Trump's other business's. Don't shop at any bullding with Donald Trump's name to include Trump Hotels, Casinos, Condo's, Offices, Shops!  The Donald has expressed extreme Hatred towards gays and now blacks with his birther remarks and anti-gay rhetoric.  Remember how poorly Trump  treated Rosie O'Donnel?  Now we know why he did that!  It was hate against a lesbian as we now know he is bigot.  Unforgiveable!  Dump NBC because they air Donald Trump's "The Apprentice"!  Start Watching CBS Evening News with Katie Couric (who is unfortunately leaving).
  • NEW: Boycott "APPLE." For the current owners and the aspiring owners of the I-phone,  Apple allows an application, "The Gay App", which is supposed to help gay individuals turn straight.  This is a step in the wrong direction.
  • Apple needs to know that the decision to allow this App on their products is a fallacious idea! Update: March 23, 2011:  Apple removed this app from USA stores; but, rumored to have them remain in some foreign stores.  This is offensive not just towards the LGBT community in the USA; but, offensive to  the entire LGBT community around the world.  How does anyone approve such a hateful, despicable app towards the LGBT community? Especially when Gay Teens are killing themselves after being harrassed by their church, parents, as well as  by bully's and teachers at school. The idea that this app was used, solicited is disgusting.

And Now, Our War of the Fittest!

This group is called "Peckers Pics."  The English -  slang definition of "pecker" is to pluck at the truth. Therefore, we peck at items such as Gay Men's Health, Male Fitness, Gay (LGBT) Politics & Issues.  In this section you may peck at each photo in order to decide the winner of the "war of the fittest!"  Whereas, you should select the guy that may inspire you to exercise and "get fit!"   Warning: This may stoke you!

Anti-gay groups plan increased spending, activity through 2012
By Andy Birkey - 05.05.11 - The American Independent

Anti-gay rights groups around the country will see a cash infusion over the next two years through a plan called "Ignite an Enduring Cultural Transformation." And the groups are remaining mum about who is responsible.

The campaign, which largely targets states where Republicans won control of legislatures or governorships, has garnered the support of Republican political superstars such as former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (Va.), Sens. Marco Rubio (Fla.) and Jon Kyl (Ariz.), and Rep. Trent Franks (Ariz.). The groups intend to pass anti-gay marriage amendments, curtail abortion rights and, in at least one case, ban "transgender bathrooms."

Family policy councils -- a creation of Focus on the Family in the 1980s -- have launched the Ignite plan in 15 states. Each family policy council has a three-prong plan to achieve their legislative goals over the next two years: lobbying for legislation, mobilizing pastors and social conservatives and supporting candidates that have backed their initiatives. Each group has used a stock brochure containing nearly identical wording to explain their plan and to solicit funds. In many cases, an Ignite plan was launched with an anonymous matching-grant donor.

Requests for information from many of the policy councils were denied, and Focus on the Family told The American Independent that they have no involvement, declining to offer information on any organization that might back the plan.

Focus on the Family says that while the groups are "fully associated" with FoF, they "are independent entities with no corporate or financial relationship to each other or to Focus on the Family."

While Form 990s -- revenue and expense documents that nonprofits file with the IRS -- don't provide detailed information on political organizing expenditures, The American Independent has provided each group's average yearly revenues for comparison to their two-year spending under the Ignite plan.

Already, the groups are seeing success in their respective states.

The South Dakota Family Policy Council is spending $72,600 in the next two years as part of the Ignite campaign, specifically to pass legislation that would force women seeking an abortion to speak to counselors at religious-based crisis pregnancy centers.

SDFPC lobbied heavily for the bill in the media, testified before the South Dakota legislature and organized a pastor's day at the state Capitol in Pierre in February to advocate for the bill. It passed the legislature and was signed into law in late-March.

The SDFPC is also pushing legislation that would ban surrogate mothers, but thus far the bill has yet to get out of committee. The group lists "Defeat Equality-SD's radical gay-rights legislation," as a goal of the Ignite campaign.

All told, SDFPC plans to spend $72,600 under the campaign, a small chunk of the average $304,000 the group took in as normal operating revenue each year over the last 5 years.

SDFPC did not return a request for information about the campaign.

Anti-gay marriage amendments on the ballot in 2012

In several states -- such as Indiana, Minnesota, Pennsylvania and West Virginia -- Ignite plans seems to be targeted at getting anti-gay marriage amendments passed.

The Family Policy Council of West Virginia (FPCWV) plans to spend $168,000 through 2012  (it's average yearly budget is $132,000) during its two-year Ignite campaign to pass a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage and civil unions, and also to defeat laws that would prevent discrimination against gays and lesbians.

In West Virginia, both houses of the legislature are overwhelmingly held by Democrats, and Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin is a Democrat. The planned anti-gay marriage amendment there was voted down in the House of Delegates in February, even though many of the Democrats in the state oppose gay marriage.

FPCWV did not return a request for information about the Ignite campaign.

The Pennsylvania Family Institute plans to spend $1.5 million through 2012 on anti-abortion rights measures as well as a constitutional amendment barring gay marriage in the state. The average yearly revenue for the group over the last three years was $1.4 million.

The group also received a matching donation of $7,500 at the end of 2010.

On Tuesday, Pennsylvania Republicans introduced the anti-gay marriage amendment that PFI says they'll push over the next two years.

"Ignite may well be the most important plan we've ever undertaken," wrote PFI president Michael Geer in a message to supporters about the plan. "We want to ensure that Pennsylvania's pro-family citizens don't 'go home' thinking election results alone will stop those who undermine the timeless values you and I share. Our plan is designed to take back lost ground in the areas of life, liberty, marriage, and the family."

Indiana Family Institute plans (PDF) to spend $498,000 to defund Planned Parenthood and to pass an anti-gay marriage amendment. IFI's revenues have averaged $313,896 over the past three years.

The IFI did not respond to a request for comment on the Ignite plan.

In Minnesota, the Ignite plan calls for adding an amendment to the Minnesota Constitution banning gay marriage; the Minnesota Family Council is planning to spend $4.71 million in the next two years. The group averaged $832,000 in revenue over the last three years between the Council and it's affiliate, the Minnesota Family Institute. If the Ignite campaign goes according to plan, the group will spend more than twice its historical average in working to abolish gay marriage in the state.

Big endorsements

Family Foundation of Virginia plans to spend $1,170,277 over the next two years to push legislation on "wrongful death for the unborn," school choice and religious liberty protections.

The group's revenues over the last four years have averaged $510,000. They did not return a request for information on the campaign and increased spending.

Like many of the family policy councils, the Family Foundation got a year-end bump from a matching grant:

"In order to get us off to a strong start in implementing this plan, a small group of The Family Foundation's donors have offered to match every contribution The Family Foundation receives before December 31 -- up to $25,000!" the group said in a recent fundraising pitch.

And the group has been busy this year. It's former executive director, Martin Brown, was tapped by Gov. Bob McDonnell to head Virginia's Social Services Department. Under Brown's leadership, the state social services board has tightened adoption rules so that agencies may discriminate against gay and lesbian couples.

The Family Foundation lobbied heavily for the pro-discrimination policies.

Its plan, which was sent to donors, includes this endorsement from House Majority Leader Eric Cantor: "It is difficult to imagine how Virginia would look today without The Family Foundation's vigilant grassroots programs and the dedicated men and women who are the heart and soul of this proud institution."

The Massachusetts Family Institute also had a message to its supporters last fall: "We must ensure Massachusetts's pro-family movement doesn't 'go home' after a tough election. We must work to ensure the "moment" that was the 2010 elections, both the January Special Election and the general in November, becomes a "movement" that takes back lost ground in the areas of life, liberty, marriage, and the family."

MFI plans to spend $148,000 to defeat a "transgender bathroom bill," to pass a student religious freedom bill and to pass anti-abortion rights initiatives, all uphill battles in a heavily progressive state.

The group's website includes an endorsement of their Ignite plan from presidential candidate Mitt Romney. "MFI has a track record of getting things done on behalf of Massachusetts families and is uniquely positioned to accomplish even more in the years to come."

The Louisiana Family Forum got a big endorsement from Gov. Bobby Jindal, a rumored candidate for president in 2012. "LFF had another great year, scoring an impressive 31 legislative victories," Jindal wrote in support of LFF's Ignite plan. "[LFF president Gene Mills] and his entire group do a great a job day after day, month after month, year after year showing up on behalf of Louisiana's families. We look forward to many more pro-life, pro-family victories in the years ahead."

LFF plans to spend $225,000 under its Ignite plan to defeat "homosexual adoption and marriage" and to "shrink the size and scope of government." The group's average revenue over the last two years was $600,000. The group received a $50,000 matching grant from an anonymous donor to launch the plan.

Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida loaned his name to the Florida Family Policy Council's Ignite plan, which calls for spending $300,000 to mandate that women view an ultrasound before having an abortion and to "defeat the radical homosexual agenda."

The group averaged revenues of $384,000 over the last three years.

FFPC president John Stemberger told his supporters that their plan was meant to stave off victories by "non-religious right friendly legislators."

"The people who work to undermine the values you and I share may have suffered a historic defeat in this year's election, but both you and I know they won't just go home," he wrote. "As a matter of fact, they're already planning how to turn things around in the next election. The "Ignite Plan" that I'm working on right now… is focused on making sure that doesn't happen."

Sen. Rubio wrote in support of the the group's Ignite plan (PDF), saying, "FFPC's successes in education, legislation and accountability have made them an indispensable asset in promoting and defending traditional values."

The Center for Arizona Policy's Ignite plan (PDF) has the endorsements of Rep. Trent Franks and Sen. Jon Kyl.

"With all the external challenges that we face in this country, the internal one is the greatest," Franks wrote in support of the plan. "And I believe that a few people can make the vital difference. Center for Arizona Policy is the flagship of that effort here in Arizona."

Sen. Kyl added, "It is very clear that Center for Arizona Policy has become an important force to influence public policy here in the state of Arizona."

CAP doesn't list its legislative goals on its website. CAP did get an anonymous donor to provide a matching grant for $115,000 for the plan. The group did not return a request for information about the plan.

Activity in other states

Other state groups include the New Jersey Family Policy Council, which is spending $1.326 million to defeat any same-sex marriage laws and to pass a parental notification law for minors seeking an abortion. The group's average yearly revenue has been $864,000 over the last three years.

Cornerstone Family Council of Idaho is also using the Ignite plan, and got a matching grant from an anonymous donor for $6,300. Cornerstone did not return a request for comment. Neither did Wisconsin Family Action, which got a $13,000 matching grant.

Family Action Council of Tennessee and the Kansas Family Policy Council both have adopted the Ignite strategy.
