Boycott Trump-NBC-TARGET/Safe PICS For All Ages/
We Support Keith Olbermann. Keith begins his show "Countdown" on Current TV, June 20, 2011. Personally, I will watch every one his shows that I can! Keith is the best in the news business. He does not BS!

Alert: Target + Minnesota Forward + Tom Emmer = Support for a rather dangerous and radical political philosophy that diminishes LGBT people to pests that should be murdered. And "Target" is cool with this? in San Diego we peacefully canvassed customers near their stores. In return, TARGET is suing the LGBT community for voicing our right of FREE SPEECH! Now, Target lost in court! David beat Goliath! AWWW! Return everything you bought to TARGET and tell them why! ....Boycott TARGET!!!!!

Why Are American Gay Men Ignoring the AIDS Crisis?

Posted by Nick Vivion on Jun 9, 2011 - Unicorn Booty

If you are a gay male in America, one in five of your male friends has HIV.

And one in ten of your friends doesn't even know that they have it.

USA TODAY reports that one in three of these new infections are diagnosed so late in the infection that full-blown AIDS hits in less than one year.

These staggering statistics have been searing a hole in my brain today, the day marking the mid-point of the AIDS/LifeCycle ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles. As riders celebrate by hoisting their bicycles over their heads, many are equally somber about what they have come here for.

"It affects everyone," says Thomas Gay, who was diagnosed with HIV over 7 years ago. "Whether you know it or not, not everyone is forthcoming and able to let the world know about their status. So just because you don't know somebody's positive, it doesn't mean that they aren't."

It all comes down to two things:

If you don't ask, you don't care. It is your own individual responsibility – if you choose to be responsible for your own health – to find out the HIV/STD status of every single sexual partner.
It only takes one time. Taking a risk "only this one time" basically throws all your previous prevention out of the window, because all it takes is one time to get infected. It's like not wearing a seatbelt, or not wearing sunscreen – all it takes is one time.

Gay males are at the certain of this resurgence, and the fight is nastier than ever. We are catching the disease later, with ever more people being infected. There's this general apathy towards the issue, with many folks thinking that AIDS is a treatable disease. That it's no longer the death sentence that it once was. That you can live a healthy life with HIV/AIDS.

To be honest, I used to think that this was true. Until one of my best friends on this green earth was diagnosed with HIV after an unwanted sexual encounter. All of a sudden, his life was turned upside down. He had to take meds every day, and suffered mood swings, nausea and a plethora of other challenges. It was excruciating to watch him go through this, and I never told him how terrified it made me feel.

That should could have been me.

My awareness, and passion, for this issue has been ignited by my experience so far on the AIDS/LifeCycle ride. I know that the rest of this week will stoke my fire even more. Watching riders hoist their bikes over their heads, hearing these incredibly touching stories, and living the passion of the hundreds of volunteers has opened my eyes to the unpleasant realities of the gay community's current situation.

This is untenable. We should not  can not have another plague that decimates our community. Be safe, get tested, and ask. It only takes once – and in the end, we are all only blessed with one life.
Take Action:
  • Boycott advertisers of Glenn Beck's radio show and his quest spots on Fox News. Glenn Beck is anti-gay rights. Update: Boycott Successful: Update 4/7/2011: Beck has been fired by FOX NEWS! Radio stations dropping Beck as well in several locations. Now, tell FOX to stop having Beck as a Guest.
  • Update: DADT has been repealed. President Obama has kept his promise!
  • Boycott Bill O'Reilly and FOX News and their advertisers. Bill discussed a French commercial by McDonalds that was meant to show that McDonalds is Gay Friendly. Bill said what is next? Is McDonalds going to be Al-Qaida friendly as well? Imagine - Bill O'Reilly compares Gays to Al-Qaida!
  • Boycott Arizona the home of "hater" - U.S. Senator John McCain. Arizona's Hateful anti-Immigration Law - encourages racial profiling and increases hatred towards minorities. A remedy: Demand Republicans to support Immigration Reform (The Dream Act). Further, Senator McCain voted against ending DADT and Blocked Immigration reform!
  • Boycott Target, Best Buy, Gold's Gym - for donating money towards anti-gay political candidates/organizations. Update: (12/26/2010): Target is continuing to donate to anti-gay groups/causes/politicians. Update 03/08/11 - Lady Gaga Ends Target Partnership, Reportedly Over Target's Poor LGBT Stance. Update 3/25/2010 - Target displays their hypocrisy and Sues California Gay Rights Group for Lobbying Outside Stores. Target is attempting to block the LGBT right of free speech! STOP SHOPPING AT TARGET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Update 4/8/2011: Target lost it's case to stop the LGBT from canvassing in front of their stores. A huge PR Disaster for TARGET! Perhaps Target should go out of business as they betrayed their investers and customer base. Target contributed massive funds to a politician who would like to exterminate gays. Now, Target can not stop us from Boycotting them, nor picketing, nor talking to customers near their stores; although, Target allows a anti-gay company such as the Salvation Army to stand outside their door and speak with customers and raise money. Isn't this a double standard?
  • End DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act). Prevents Federal employees and Gays in the Military from gaining equal benefits. Prevents Gay Partners from gaining equal benefits.
  • Pass ENDA (Employee Non-Discrimination Act). ENDA would prevent employment discrimination of LGBT workforce.
  • Boycott Salvation Army as they will not hire Gays! "DO NOT DONATE TO THEM."
  • BOYCOTT "Chick-fil-a" for donating to anti-gay marriage groups.
  • BOYCOTT KOCH INDUSTRIES PRODUCTS- to include their products: Angel Soft toilet paper / Brawny paper towels / Dixie plates, bowls, napkins & cups / Mardi Gras napkins and towels / Quilted Northern toilet paper / Soft 'n Gentle toilet paper / Sparkle napkins / Vanity fair napkins / Zee napkins / Georgia-Pacific paper products & envelopes / All Georgia-Pacific lumber & building products (INVISTA Products) / Lycra / Stainmaster Carpet. The billionaire - Koch brothers are ultra republican - tea bag founders/supporters that do not support causes of the LGBT community.
  • Boycott WALMART - The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, force criticized Wal-Mart for denying employee benefits to same-s-x partners and for failing to prohibit discrimination based on gender identity. By comparison, the group said two other chain stores with a strong presence in New York, Costco and Walgreens, did much better.
  • Remember David Kato, Gay activist - Uganda, who was slain because he is gay!
  • NEW: "Tune Out Trump", Boycott all Trump Hotel, casinos, holdings, The Apprentice and NBC Network! At CPAC, Trump said he is considering a run for president as a Republican. In a interview with the Des Moines Register, Trump added that he opposes all forms of legal recognition for gay couples, not just marriage. "They should not be able to marry," he said. So why does NBC keep the Apprentice when Donald Trump has stated he may run for president? After making racist remarks about Obama and recv'g public backlash, Trump decided not to run for president after NBC renewed his awful TV Show. How can NBC re-new the clown's show after he pulled such hateful shenanigans? Boycott NBC! Boycott advertisers of The Apprentice and Trump's other business's. Don't shop at any bullding with Donald Trump's name to include Trump Hotels, Casinos, Condo's, Offices, Shops! The Donald has expressed extreme Hatred towards gays and blacks with his birther remarks and anti-gay rhetoric. Remember how poorly Trump treated Rosie O'Donnel? Now we know why he did that! It was hate against a lesbian as we now know he is biget. Unforgiveable! Again, Dump NBC because they air/re-newed Donald Trump's "The Apprentice"! Now the Donald Claims the Long Form Birth certificate is a fraud. And NBC keeps this guy?
And Now, Our War of the Fittest!

Pride Celebrations?... Haven't We Assimilated?
Irene Monroe - 06/9/11 - Huffington Post

As we all know, June is Pride Month for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) communities across the country -- and parades abound.

Unlike the revolutionary decade of the 1960s during which the air bred dissent, we LGBTQ people appear to be residing in a sanguine time -- rebels without a cause, a context, or an agenda. Many of us would argue that we have moved from our once urgent state of, "Why we can't wait?" to our present lull state of, "Where do we go from here?"

With advances such as hate crime laws, the repeal of "Don't ask, don't tell," the legalization of same-sex marriage in some states, and homophobia viewed as a national concern, we have come a long way since the first Pride marches four decades ago. Also, with the AIDS epidemic no longer ravaging our community as it once did -- an epidemic that galvanized us to organize -- and with the Religious Right becoming more of a political liability than an asset to political candidates these days, our backs appear to not be slammed as harshly up against a brick wall like they used to be.

Some in our community contest that we are in a holding pattern while other argue that we are ready to assimilate into mainstream society.

Boston Pride's new Human Rights and Education Committee (HREC) broached this topic by presenting a forum to discuss the impact of assimilation on LGBTQ communities and cultures on Tuesday, June 7 at the Radisson Hotel's Theatre Café in Boston.

In its flyer HREC wrote:
2010 was a year of progress for the LGBT Community. ...Of course there is more to accomplish before we can consider ourselves truly equal and some of the questions we want to delve into are:

What happens when we achieve full equality?

How do our cultural norms and practices stand up against assimilation over time?

Do we even want to assimilate into mainstream culture? How much? And can we do so without losing our LGBT identity?

Who are we if we blend into the mainstream fabric?

Do we want to be just like everyone else?

Does quality eventually result in a cultural demise?
With the LGBTQ community being the fastest disenfranchised group to touch the fringes of America's mainstream since the Stonewall Riots in 1969, many who oppose the LGBTQ community driving forth an assimilationist agenda are waving a cautionary finger, saying to us "not too fast now."

And the cautionary finger waving is because not everyone in the LGBTQ community is accepted.

While we all rev up each June for Pride so too do the fault lines of race and class in our larger and white LGBTQ community. In addition to Gay Pride events, there will be segments of our population attending separate Black, Asian, and Latino Gay Pride events. And oddly enough, the racial divide that is always evident at Pride events across the country shows us something troubling and broken about ourselves as we strive to be a community and movement.

The growing distance between our larger and white LGBTQ community these LGBTQ communities of color is shown by how, for an example, a health issue like HIV/AIDS that was once an entire LGBTQ community problem is now predominately communities of color.

The themes and focus of Black, Asian, and Latino Pride events are different from the larger Pride events. Prides of communities of color focus on issues not solely pertaining to the LGBTQ community, but rather on social, economic, and health issues impacting their entire community. For example, where the primary focus and themes in white Prides has been on marriage equality for the larger community, Prides organized by and for LGBTQ people of African descent have had to focus not only on HIV/AIDS but also on unemployment, housing, gang violence, LGBTQ youth homelessness, etc.

Cultural acceptance is just one of a few things LGBTQ communities of color still do not experience from larger Pride events, at times experiencing social exclusion and invisibility.

For example, Sunday gospel brunches, Saturday night Poetry slams, Friday evening fashion shows, bid whist tournaments, house parties, the smell of soul food and Caribbean cuisine, and the beautiful display of African art and clothing are just a few of the cultural markers that make Black Pride distinctly different from the dominant queer culture. And after decades of Pride events where many LGBTQ people of African descent tried to be included and weren't, Black Gay Pride was born.

While Pride events are still fraught with divisions, they, nonetheless, bind us to a common struggle for LGBTQ equality.

Driving forth an assimilationist agenda would eradicate that our gift and our struggle are that we are a diverse community. And our diversity as a LGBTQ community should not be diluted, but rather our diversity should teach us more about its complexity, and by extension teach society at-large.

Our diversity not only affirms our uniqueness and LGBTQ people, but it also broadens America's understanding that a democratic society is a diverse one.
Every gay and lesbian person who has been lucky enough to survive the turmoil of growing up is a survivor. Survivors always have an obligation to those who will face the same challenges."
