Re: [TOWWFFC] The Absurdity of Miz's Money in the Bank Push

My ranking is purely based on that he wrestles more on tv than anyone else and usually goes over in the matches. Not that he deserves to.

Subject: [TOWWFFC] The Absurdity of Miz's Money in the Bank Push

This article says this far better than I could, but boils down to a simple
fact. Miz has no place getting the pushes he's been getting. No offense to
Satt's "ratings', but he's no top 10 wrestler by any stretch of the
imagination. While Morrison has quadrupled his mic ability and in-ring
skills since their break-up, Miz has barely improved his mic skills while
back-tracking in his in-ring inability. One of the last lines sums it up
perfectly: "Before Miz is given a world title in the WWE, perhaps he ought
to learn to actually wrestle.".

The Absurdity of Miz's Money in the Bank Push

With surprising inventiveness and mind-boggling regularity, WWE continues to
invent new ways of insulting their talented workers and screwing up WWE
television. Unfortunately, however, when it comes to finding ways to push
those who are deserving of being pushed, WWE's creative team invariably
draws a blank.

Seemingly, if you want to be steadily and seriously pushed to the top of the
WWE food chain, all you need to do is wrestle like a handicapped Ashley
Massaro while drunk, and do a semi-competent job on the microphone playing
the most basic type of heel that garners cheap heat.

At least, that's the recipe for the Miz's success.

Yesterday, in RAW's highly entertaining Money in the Bank ladder match, the
WWE thought that it was fitting to bypass Orton, Morrison, Bourne, Edge and
Chris Jericho in order to give the walking joke, that is known as Miz, the
Money in the Bank contract; guaranteeing him a world title shot within a
year.

Just looking at the dynamic of that ladder match speaks volumes about how
intrinsically absurd it is to give Miz the contract. We saw some tremendous
spots during that match, and the match was undeniably highly entertaining.
We saw Bourne provide some crazy moments of entertainment, and we saw
Morrison take some very interesting bumps.

We saw Miz, well, do nothing of note except sneak the victory.

Predictably, in response to that axiom, Miz apologists will then scowl and
condescendingly cite the fact that Miz is a heel. Thus, he is SUPPOSED to
do nothing throughout a match and sneak the victory, which, admittedly, is a
fair point.

What Miz worshipers would not do, however, is cite a match that shows,
beyond a reasonable doubt, that Miz even possesses a scintilla of athletic
ability to prove that he is deserving of having a world title
shot-irrespective of how he received it.

I have followed Miz's career from the beginning in the WWE, and while I can
see a vast improvement in his microphone work, it is not clear to me that
his in-ring work followed suit. He has the most basic moveset imaginable; he
has no clue how to put a match together convincingly, or how to
interestingly put heat on his opponent. His selling is awful, and he has no
ring presence whatsoever.

What's worse, though, is the fact that he is incapable of picking a finisher
that doesn't scream, "Hey! I don't know any good moves, but I can do this
pathetic maneuver!"

Nonetheless, wrestling fans are still forced to endure the endless
sycophantic chants of Mizfits proclaiming him to be the second coming of Ric
Flair, despite the preponderance of the evidence contradicting such
manifestly delusional claims.

As noted in an earlier article that I wrote, Sheamus is clearly one of WWE's
rushed let's-make-a-star projects that turned out well. He actually has ring
presence, can wrestle, and is worthy of WWE Championship gold. Of course,
people could quibble about whether it would have been preferable for him to
win a few midcard titles before being vaulted into the position that he is
in now, but, needless to say, he is doing big things on the main event
scene.
Sheamus has defeated Cena three times now. Also, he decimated and took
Triple H out of action. In other words, he has received some very strong
booking as a powerhouse and is someone to take seriously in the WWE, both
now and in the future.

The idea that someone as pathetic as the Miz can knock someone as powerful
as Sheamus out with a move as pathetic as a full-nelson legsweep facebuster
on a briefcase is just absolutely stupid booking. Such idiotic booking not
only buries Sheamus, but also undermines everyone else that Sheamus has
taken out or defeated, all in an effort to elevate someone with as much
discernible talent as an empty can of coke.

Miz is the current holder of the United States Championship, and he has been
one of the worst champions we have seen. If Miz cannot have an entertaining
reign with the WWE United States title where he puts on some convincing and
great matches, what makes people think that things will suddenly change as
soon as he is handed the most prestigious championship in wrestling today?

If I recall correctly, when Morrison was the Intercontinental Champion, he
routinely put on main-event quality matches, and he consistently continues
to do so. Such wrestling consistency from not only Morrison, but also the
likes of Kofi Kingston go completely unrewarded. Yet, Miz is heralded as
the future of professional wrestling and pushed to the heavens for doing
precisely nothing in the ring.

There are so many people who have toiled away putting on main-event quality
match after main-even quality match on the midcard for years, patiently
waiting for a chance at WWE Championship.

Yet I am supposed to support handing someone the WWE title when they have
shown next to no ability in the ring and distinct mediocrity packaged as
unparalleled freshness on the microphone?

Before Miz is given a world title in the WWE, perhaps he ought to learn to
actually wrestle.

The fact of the matter is that there are elderly tortoises with more
athletic ability than the Miz shows weekly on RAW. There's no amount of
screaming, "I'm awesome!" that can mitigate that fact. And the obsequious
incantations of Miz butt-lickers are equally as ineffective in covering for
it, too.
