Re: [Peckers_Pics] Losing Weight Takes Effort???!!!!

Having been over 327 pounds at one time suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, cellulitus, heart and kidney problems, and also gout.  You have to realize it took years to get to that point, it didn't happen over night.  It also takes time to change what you have become.  I am now 192 pounds but it took over three years to loose the weight.  Jenny Craig and all the others do some good but it enables a person most of the time, your decision for personal change is all about you and not a community party, competition or comparing etc. Yes support is great physically and mentally, however you got where you did on your own, they can't make you thinner~you have to do it.  I didn't get my stomach stapled, I changed my habits of eating and how to approach food, take healthier choices.  You have to understand that some foods even though healthy are negative to you after a certain time of day.  If you eat high energy foods and its after 6 pm and you are slowing down for the evening~what becomes of that unused energy!? The body tends to store it!  If you make it a diet you will fail.  A diet doesn't work, but a food management personalize for you, works one meal at a time.  There are also outside distractions you need to remove when you are eating as well~Like NOT sitting in front of the TV. When going out with friends, eat something before going.  Then have something light.  We are social creatures and tend to eat more in a groups or when stressed.  When you decided to change your behaviors in eating it takes commitment to yourself for a lifetime.  NOT a diet the rest of your life.  I can eat many of my favorite foods such as a slice of cake, ice cream etc. just not the whole cake or gallon of ice cream and eat it at the right time of day.  I eat 6 smaller meal a day so I am never hungry.

I went to a dietitian and we went through everything to determine a plan for me.  I didn't go to Jenny Craig, Tops etc. Anyone who has a personal goal for weight loss~see a dietitian. Food doesn't have to be your enemy.  You can live healthy.  I don't count calories, but I do read labels.  I watch the extra sugars and the salts.

In order to take advantage of losing weight and being successful, you must be prepared--that means " paying your dues."

Nothing is more frustrating than to see that you are gaining weight again. .

Be in a position to benefit from your failure. It pays to be prepared, and that comes down to plain, hard work. It's not usually glamorous. It's not always exciting. It's not always fun. It is, however, always necessary

By being prepared, you have to create a game plan to get back on track right away without beating yourself up and devastating your self-esteem. My game plan is taking it a bite at a time. What's your's? Maybe it's taking it a day at a time, going back to your diet tomorrow. Maybe it's getting angry and becoming more determined then ever to succeed.

Have you ever been at a Weight Watchers or TOPS meeting and noticed several people there who are slim and trim? What about those Jenny Craig and Nutri/System ad's with their before and after pictures? They make losing weight look so effortless, but remember, in reality, these people have been dieting for years.

Without effort and action, you will not succeed. You can't wish your weight away. You have to work at it and be prepared for those times when you slip, so you can pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and move on...

Losing weight demands preparation, effort and commitment to come to fruition
