When we are aware of our breathing, it helps to calm the body and mind. Breathing consciously is easy and convenient. Tuning in to your breathing anchors you in the awareness of your body, in the here and now.Here is an easy breathing exercise you can do anywhere, even at work:Abdominal Breathing1. Find a quiet spot where you won't be disturbed.2. Get into a relaxed seated position, with both feet flat on the floor.3. Put your hands on your abdomen
4. Close your mouth gently and touch your tongue to your upper palate and breath through your nose. If your nose is blocked for any particular reason it is fine to breath through your mouth.
5. Inhale deeply and slowly, being aware of your diaphragm moving downward and your abdomen expanding. Your hands on your abdomen will feel the expansion like a balloon filling.
6. At the end of the inhalation, don't hold the breath and your abdomen will fall automatically as you exhale.
7. Try to get all the breath out of your lungs on the exhalation. The exhalation should normally be about twice as long as the inhalation when you get relaxed.Keep repeating this, keeping your focus on your hands rising on the abdomen with inhalation and falling with exhalation.

STOP SHOPPING AT TARGET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Update 4/8/2011: Target lost its case to stop the LGBT from canvassing in front of their stores. A huge PR Disaster for TARGET! Perhaps Target should go out of business as they betrayed their investers and customers. Target contributed massive funds to a politician who would like to exterminate gays. Now, Target can not stop us from Boycotting them, nor picketing, nor talking to customers near their stores; although, Target allows a anti-gay company such as the Salvation Army to stand outside their door and speak with customers and raise money. Isn't this a double standard? Perhaps TARGET would better understand the issue if they cared about David Kato - Uganda, who was slain because he is gay! That is because Uganda wants to kill gay people. Again, TARGET invested in a political candidate that would Kill the Gays!

In a interview with the Des Moines Register, Trump added that he opposes all forms of legal recognition for gay couples, not just marriage. "They should not be able to marry," he said. So why does NBC keep the Apprentice when Donald Trump has stated he may run for president? After making racist remarks about Obama and recv'g public backlash, Trump decided not to run for president after NBC renewed his awful TV Show. How can NBC renew the clown's show after he pulled all such low-class shenanigans? Boycott NBC! Boycott advertisers of The Apprentice and Trump's other business's. Don't shop at any bullding with Donald Trump's name to include Trump Hotels, Casinos, Condo's, Offices, Shops! The Donald has expressed extreme Hatred towards gays and blacks with his birther remarks and anti-gay rhetoric. Remember how poorly Trump treated Rosie O'Donnel? Now we know why he did that! Petition Drive Grows Urging Clemency for Troy Davis

(Savannah, GA) Kim Davis says she and other family members visited death row inmate Troy Davis last Saturday, just days after his execution date had been set. "But we didn't discuss it, we just tried to make it a normal visit," says Kim.
Troy Davis, now 42 years old, is set to be executed a week from today on September 21at 7 p.m. at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson, Georgia. He's been on death row since 1991 for the 1989 killing of off duty Savannah police officer Mark MacPhail.
The family is focusing its attention on a clemency hearing before the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles, set for Monday, September 19. Over the years, many have signed petitions from Amnesty International regarding Troy Davis's case.
Sunday, Kim Davis began a petition drive of her own and so far, has collected more than 200,000 signatures. "It tells me that people care about the case of Troy Anthony Davis," she told me.
On Thursday, supporters from Amnesty International will present petitions to the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles in preparation for Monday's hearing. We're told the petitions may total up to 300,000 names.
Amnesty International says "support for Davis's clemency campaign has swelled with hundreds of thousands of people worldwide taking action, from luminaries such as Nobel laureate Jose Ramos Horta to singer-songwriter Cee Lo Green."
Amnesty International also says that among the petition signatures from around the world, 26,000 come from Georgia residents and that "support has also come in form of letters to the parole board from former President Jimmy Carter and Norman Fletcher, former chief justice of the Georgia Supreme Court, to Tweets from R.E.M."
"This is a case that has resonated with Americans of all stripes," said Larry Cox, executive director of AIUSA. "When serious questions about someone's guilt permeate a case, it brings together liberals and conservatives, those who oppose the death penalty and those who are staunch supporters. In the case of Troy Davis, hundreds of thousands are raising their voices to say there is simply too much doubt to execute."
Earlier this week, former Georgia republican Congressman Bob Barr appeared on MSNBC's as a guest of Al Sharpton. Barr is an advocate of the death penalty, but opposes Troy Davis being executed. Barr said the "recantations of seven witnesses make the Davis case one of those where the death penalty should not be applied."
Meanwhile, Kim Davis says they are planning a weekend visit to see her brother, as usual. She says someone asked her about final wishes and "we said we aren't thinking that way, we are remaining hopeful and prayerful about the clemency outcome."
Officer Mark MacPhail was 26 years old when he was gunned down in a parking lot in August of 1989, working an off duty job. McPhail had come to give aid to a homeless man who was being beaten and who was screaming for help. Law enforcement and MacPhail's family has always maintained that Davis is the man who pulled the trigger. Mark MacPhail, Jr. told New 3 recently that the family "has been through this so many times, but we are optimistic the execution will take place."
MacPhail, Jr. also told us he and most of his family members plan to attend Monday's clemency hearing. McPhail, Jr. says he has spent his entire life without a father and that every year August 19th (the anniversary of his dad's death) is always a difficult day. Regarding the Davis family and the high emotions that often are seen when both sides meet, McPhail said "they're fighting for their brother, we know that. It's Time for the 'We Need to Protect Marriage' Con to Die

Here we go again.
The North Carolina Legislature has passed a bill to allow its citizens to vote on a state constitutional amendment against gay marriage.
The majority of folks in North Carolina are against this amendment, but that is considered a minor detail by the organizations and people pushing it.
They are always quick to point out that other states that have polled against state constitutional amendments against gay marriage passed them when voters had the chance to register their opinions via the ballot box.
Of course the truth is not that simple. The untold narrative usually goes like this:
People in the targeted states are so generally worried about more pressing issues that they allow their legislatures to be the first salvo in what can be called an invasion (i.e., laying the groundwork by passing a bill, thereby forcing constituents to vote on the matter).
Then an organization -- usually the National Organization for Marriage -- is the second part of the invasion via its virtually unlimited funds supplied by secret donors (which the group has fought tooth and nail not to reveal), which pay for the inundation of robocalls, mailers and commercials spinning a multitude of lies about gays harming children or gays persecuting Christians, or gays causing all sorts of mayhem in general if the amendment is not passed.
At the same time, the organization strokes the egos of area pastors and public leaders. The organization, combined with these pastors and public leaders, gain votes by:•Picking a needless war with the gay community over the definition of "civil rights"
•Spooking people into thinking that God will literally send the Angel of Death to smite them if they don't vote for the amendment
•Scaring people into thinking that gays are going to knock down their front doors and cart them off to jail or convert their children if they don't vote for the amendmentThe organization -- again, usually NOM -- wins the vote, and while it brays about how "the community stood up to protect marriage," the community in actuality deals with strife, hard feelings, broken families and generally not understanding why their votes to "protect marriage" hasn't put food on their tables or more money in their paychecks, or made their lives better.
It's like some religious version of that Simpsons episode about the monorail. But instead of a faulty monorail, people are being sold a faulty premise that the biggest harm to their marriages are their gay and lesbian neighbors, and if they make it difficult for these folks to marry, then somehow the real things that harm marriages (e.g., the lack of communication or poverty, a subject none of these "we need to protect marriage" groups seem to ever address) will suddenly disappear.
It's time for this "we need to protect marriage" con to die. And it will. It could happen in North Carolina or Minnesota. Both states are facing anti-marriage-equality votes next year. Or it could happen before then. But rest assured, it will happen.
As our economic crisis looms and Republicans go tête-à-tête with the president, people are starting to get hip to these distracting amendment pushes that exploit their religious beliefs while doing nothing to solve the problems they have gaining employment, feeding their families or paying their mortgages.
It is said that a lie travels around the world before the truth has time to put on its shoes. What they always forget to mention is that when truth does put on its shoes, it usually makes up for lost time.
In the case of these phony "protect marriage" votes, I have a feeling that truth is just about to slap on its sneakers.
Every gay and lesbian person who has been lucky enough to survive the turmoil of growing up is a survivor. Survivors always have an obligation to those who will face the same challenges."
