Chastity is the exclusion of sex with anyone [heterosexual too]outside of a legal and lawful marriage. The LDS Church has defined marriage as "between one man and one woman" [quite a long trip from the polygamy days] . No on has to join the LDS Church. His wife, and family have not acted in a very Christian manor. In the eyes of the LDS Church leadership, however, it is better to be released from the covenants made in this life [in the Temple]rather that to violate them and be held to those standards. Excommunication is an act of mercy in the eyes of the Church. That can be debated all day long. My point is this, you are so correct that we must be honest with ourselves and others, and not accept judgment from others. As members of the LBGT community we must show twice the tolerance of other peoples views. If we are more judgmental than others, then we become greater hypocrites. Perhaps, instead of Boycotts, if we let the companies and individuals know how much it distresses us to be considered 'less than' we can make a bigger impact. Michael Colongione - Huffington Post - Sep 23, 2011 Everyone is quick to call up a pest control professional and ask the question, "When can you be here? I have bedbugs!" When the question really should be, "How do I prepare before you come and treat my home?" Prior to a pest control company coming to treat your home, preparing for it is just as important as the actual treatment. In celebrating Bedbug Awareness Month, we thought this was one of the most important topics to educate people about. Let's face it -- having bedbugs is stressful. It's the last thing you expect and the last thing you need. So after you have had your bedbug dog inspection and have made the choice as to who you are going to partner with to eradicate the bedbugs, what do you do? Well, cost is something we all have on our minds. So, I bring up the old adage: "Do it right the first time so you don't have to do it again." Preparing your home for a pest control company may seem daunting, but it will save you money and stress in the long run. Here are some things to keep in mind prior to treatment: 1. Clear All Clutter. Discard all papers, newspapers, magazines and anything that you might not need. Throw away in thick garbage bags and seal tightly. 2. Empty Closets Where Treatment Will Be Applied. If bedbug dogs have pinpointed where your problem is, you'll minimize the clothing you will have to wash. In the rooms that will be treated, remove all clothing from the closets, place them in thick garbage bags and close tightly. 3. Leave Your Clothing -- For Awhile. Leave your clothing in bags for the duration of the treatment and for some time after. Your pest control company can advise for how long. Don't worry, you can still take items out, just make sure you wash and dry them thoroughly prior to placing them back in the bags. Most pest control companies use residual products that last after they have left. You don't want to put clothing back until you are certain the bedbugs are gone for good. 4. Strip Everything. This includes your bed, box spring and cleaning out anything that might be under your bed. 5. Clean Out Your Shelves. Take anything from books to items on shelves that are in the room and place them in boxes. The pest control company should be able to treat them. 6. Remove Outlet And Light Switch Covers. Check beforehand if the pest control company supplies this service. 7. Check All Filing Cabinets. Take a good look inside. The best advice is to remove items and have the cabinets treated too. 8. Pull Your Bed Frame From The Wall. About three to five inches away should suffice. 9. Wash And Dry All Window Dressings. Like your clothes, place these in thick garbage bags and seal tightly until the treatment is over. Remember, many pest control companies have their own list of preparation steps that you should take prior to them treating your home. As a rule of thumb, if you call a company and they don't require preparation, I would question if you want to do business with them. Most bedbug eradication techniques currently on the market require preparation steps taken prior to treatment. Something else to keep in mind -- depending on the level of infestation in your home or office, it could take two to three treatments to fully eradicate a bedbug infestation. If you follow the proper preparation steps prior to treatment, you are increasing your chances of eradicating the problem as soon as possible. You also might want to think about purchasing mattress and box spring encasements as well as a bedbug spray like Pronto Plus to create a barrier so that bedbugs and bedbug eggs are killed on contact. One last thought -- working with a pest control company is a partnership; it's good old-fashioned team work. Remember to ask questions and, when in doubt, refer to our list of key preparation steps. Paris Pride; June 25, 2011 Gay Mormon, excommunicated from his church, commits suicide By Eric Ethington - LGBTQNATION - Sep 23, 2011 PITTSBORO, N.C. -- Bryan Michael Egnew, 40, spent the last decades of his life building up the courage to come out to his family and Mormon church. Once he did his life, family and religion were stripped away from him, and he committed suicide within a matter of weeks. Growing up in the Mormon (aka LDS) Church as a gay man isn't easy. The pain and guilt pile-on as for years you are hammered with lessons telling you that unless you live a perfect heterosexual life, marry in a Mormon Temple, and follow the Church's laws perfectly, you run the risk of never seeing your family again after death. It's a deep hole that many never escape from. Unfortunately, we have lost another beautiful person to the man-made hell of depression, created when he tried to be honest about himself. Egnew went on a Mormon Mission when he was 19, was married in a Mormon Temple to his wife Amy and had five children. He served within his local Mormon congregation for years, and outwardly was everything a Mormon man was expected to be. But inside, Egnew fought a constant struggle over whether to continue pretending, or to be honest about himself. One of Egnew's friends, Jahn Curran, tells us that he has known Bryan since they attended college together at BYU, and like Egnew, Curran was also hiding the fact that he was gay. Years later, Curran would find the courage to come out of the closet, but Egnew was too afraid of what the consequences would be. But last month, Egnew found that courage and came out to his family and his church. The results were tragic. His wife Amy immediately packed up their children and drove them out of state to Tennessee, refusing to let Egnew see them. His parents and family withdrew, and his Church immediately excommunicated him because he refused to denounce his sexual orientation. PRIDEinUtah readers may remember our interview with Mitch Mayne, an openly gay man who currently serves in the bishopric of his local Mormon ward (as long as he remains celibate). His local church leaders are actually supportive of him speaking openly about the fact that he's gay, and encourage his story to be told. Contrast that with the unfeeling heartlessness of Bryan's leaders … it's a stark difference. You see, despite the thousands of reported suicides among LGBT Mormons, the Mormon high-leadership still refuse to put into place any official guidelines or provide training to local leaders on what to do when a person chooses to be honest about themselves. The result is the long trail of suicides of individuals who were left to face the wrath of local prejudices. Egnew's case is made worse by the fact that his family has tried to suppress and hide what happened and who Egnew was since his suicide on Sept. 10, 2011. His obituary made no reference to the fact that he was gay or the horror that his Church put him through in the last weeks of his life. His Facebook page was scrubbed of any mention of the truth and family members blocked anyone who might tell Egnew's story. How long will the Mormon Church continue to let their members die before they decide that LGBT people are worth being treated as equals? Calls to the Mormon Church for comment have not been returned. Every gay and lesbian person who has been lucky enough to survive the turmoil of growing up is a survivor.
