Diet & Fitness:
Reminder: Did you complete your Diet Journal today? Did you do any physical activity? If not, make a point of it by tomorrow! Perhaps our male fitness photos shall inspire you to get Fit!Health - Wellness - Exercise - Reflections:Stick to It
Diets work. Exercise works. There's no doubt about it. However, in order to make them work for you, they need to be tailored to your unique needs.
Don't just dive head first into any old weight-loss program; experts agree that the #1 reason people don't lose weight is that they just can't stick with their chosen program long enough. In other words, don't start a low-carb diet that worked for your co-worker if you can't honestly see yourself skipping grains, veggies and fruit while you chow down on meat, eggs and cheese all day long. Likewise, don't sign up for a fitness boot camp if you're more of the yoga persuasion.
Tailor your program to your personality. Consider your likes and dislikes when you make your fitness plan. If you don't try to stick your square peg into a round hole you'll be less likely to quit and you'll get long-term results only if you can stick with your program long-term.Take Action:
- Update: DADT has been repealed. President Obama has kept his promise!
- Boycott Bill O'Reilly and FOX News and their advertisers. Bill discussed a French commercial by McDonalds that was meant to show that McDonalds is Gay Friendly. Bill said what is next? Is McDonalds going to be Al-Qaida friendly as well? Imagine - Bill O'Reilly compares Gays to Al-Qaida! In conclusion, O'Reilly expressed out-right Hatrad of the LGBT Community.
- Boycott Arizona the home of "hater" - U.S. Senator John McCain. Arizona's Hateful anti-Immigration Law - encourages racial profiling and increases hatred towards minorities. A remedy: Demand Republicans to support Immigration Reform (The Dream Act). Further, Senator McCain voted against ending DADT and Blocked Immigration reform!
- Boycott Target, Best Buy, Gold's Gym - for donating money towards anti-gay political candidates/organizations. Update: (12/26/2010): Target is continuing to donate to anti-gay groups/causes/politicians. Update 03/08/11 - Lady Gaga Ends Target Partnership, Reportedly Over Target's Poor LGBT Stance. Update 3/25/2010 - Target displays their hypocrisy and Sues California Gay Rights Group for Lobbying Outside Stores. Target is attempting to block the LGBT right of free speech! STOP SHOPPING AT TARGET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Update 4/8/2011: Target lost it's case to stop the LGBT from canvassing in front of their stores. A huge PR Disaster for TARGET! Perhaps Target should go out of business as they betrayed their investers and customers. Target contributed massive funds to a politician who would like to exterminate gays. Now, Target can not stop us from Boycotting them, nor picketing, nor talking to customers near their stores; although, Target allows a anti-gay company such as the Salvation Army to stand outside their door and speak with customers and raise money. Isn't this a double standard? Perhaps TARGET would better understand the issue if they cared about David Kato - Uganda, who was slain because he is gay! That is because Uganda wants to kill gay people. Again, TARGET invested in a political candidate that would Kill the Gays!
- End DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act). Prevents Federal employees and Gays in the Military from gaining equal benefits. Prevents Gay Partners from gaining equal benefits.
- Pass ENDA (Employee Non-Discrimination Act). ENDA would prevent employment discrimination of LGBT workforce.
- Boycott Salvation Army as they will not hire Gays! "DO NOT DONATE TO THEM."
- BOYCOTT "Chick-fil-a" for donating to anti-gay marriage groups.
- BOYCOTT KOCH INDUSTRIES PRODUCTS- to include their products: Angel Soft toilet paper / Brawny paper towels / Dixie plates, bowls, napkins & cups / Mardi Gras napkins and towels / Quilted Northern toilet paper / Soft 'n Gentle toilet paper / Sparkle napkins / Vanity fair napkins / Zee napkins / Georgia-Pacific paper products & envelopes / All Georgia-Pacific lumber & building products (INVISTA Products) / Lycra / Stainmaster Carpet. The billionaire - Koch brothers are ultra republican - tea bag founders/supporters that do not support causes of the LGBT community.
- Boycott WALMART - The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, force criticized Wal-Mart for denying employee benefits to same-s-x partners and for failing to prohibit discrimination based on gender identity. By comparison, the group said two other chain stores with a strong presence in New York, Costco and Walgreens, did much better.
- NEW: Boycott Donald Trump [Tune Out TRUMP], The Apprentice and NBC Network! At CPAC, Trump said he is considering a run for president as a Republican. In a interview with the Des Moines Register, Trump added that he opposes all forms of legal recognition for gay couples, not just marriage. "They should not be able to marry," he said. So why does NBC keep the Apprentice when Donald Trump has stated he may run for president? Boycott NBC, CNBC! Boycott advertisers of The Apprentice and his other business's. Don't shop at any bullding with Donald Trump's name to include Trump Hotels, Casinos, Condo's, Offices, Shops! The Donald has expressed extreme Hatred. He is a birther as well and brings out all the Bigots! Remember how poorly Trump treated Rosie O'Donnel? Now we know why he did that! It was hate against a lesbian as we now know he is bigot. Unforgiveable! Get Ready to dump NBC & NBC NEWS because they air Donald Trump's "The Apprentice"! Start Watching CBS Evening News with Katie Couric (Too Bad, Katie is leaving).
- NEW: Boycott "APPLE." For the current owners and the aspiring owners of the I-phone, Apple allows an application, "The Gay App", which is supposed to help gay individuals turn straight. This is a step in the wrong direction. Apple needs to know that the decision to allow this App on their products is a fallacious idea! Update: March 23, 2011: Apple removed this app from USA stores; but, rumored to have them remain in some foreign stores. This is offensive not just towards the LGBT community in the USA; but, offensive to the entire LGBT community around the world. How does anyone approve such a hateful, despicable app towards the LGBT community? Especially when Gay Teens are killing themselves after being harrassed by their church, parents, as well as by bully's and teachers at school. The idea that this app was used, solicited is disgusting. Still "no comment" from APPLE!
And Now, Model Wars!

Among the masses gathered outside the White House Sunday night celebrating the demise of Osama bin Laden, there were a few familiar faces.
"Scream 4's" David Arquette spent the weekend attending a slew of White House Correspondents' Association Dinner events, but he also made his way down to the White House Sunday night for the festivities there. "They are singing the 'Star Spangled Banner' and 'Na Na Na Na Goodbye,'" the actor wrote. He also posted pictures of the crowd and of himself in front of the White House on Pennsylvania Avenue.
Journalists Geraldo Rivera of Fox News Channel and MSNBC's Rachel Maddow were also at the scene. Maddow called in to supplement MSNBC's coverage of the gathering, telling her colleagues that it resembled a frat party. Gay rights advocate Lt. Dan Choi was also in the crowd, according to the blog, Wonkette.
Another Hollywood type seems to have missed the action. Eric Stonestreet, who plays Cameron on ABC's "Modern Family," tweeted that his White House tour had been postponed. "Now I know why my White House tour was canceled tonight!!! #deadladen," the actor tweeted. "... and I was sitting next to White House Chief Of Staff Bill Daley last and he didn't say a word! I mean, you think u know a guy," he added.
Luckily for Stonestreet he got his West Wing tour Monday. "Just stood in the oval office," he wrote. "Grateful I didn't fall over a couch or spill strawberry juice on the rug."____________________________Bin Laden Politics: Who are we and what did we become?By Bill Wetzel - May 2, 2011 - OPEdNews
Osama Bin Laden is dead.
But what does that mean?
I remember the morning of September 11th, 2001, I was sleeping soundly in my bed in a student apartment complex in Seattle. I was about a week away from graduating with a Video Production degree at the Art Institute of Seattle. I just had bone chips surgically removed from my left elbow, the culmination of nagging bull riding and wrestling injuries. It was a complex time for me. The pain of a surgery; the elation of being the first member of my immediate family to have a college degree.
Abruptly my alarm went off.
It was my day off, but I forgot to reset it from the day before when I had to do some early morning editing on my video demo reel. I jumped. Then after getting my bearings I groggily reached up to turn the alarm off. But I paused and listened to the news alert broadcasting over the airwaves. Something had happened in New York City. Something about the World Trade Center.
For a second, I thought it was some random entertainment people talking about a James Patterson novel where terrorists conduct a plot in and around the WTC area. My video/film obsessed mind thought they were maybe making that novel into another action film.
But this was different.
It even felt different.
Within a few seconds I realized that this wasn't a film. It was real, and something horrible had happened. Our nation was under attack. It was dreadful. I walked through that day like I was in a nightmare. Felt like I was moving in slow motion. None of it seemed believable. Planes took out the Twin Towers? One hit the Pentagon? Another crashed in a Pennsylvania field?
I was never a fan of George W. Bush. Never thought too much of the guy really. But that night I prayed for him. I prayed for all of us, but specifically for him. I wanted him to do a great job. I wanted him to hunt down the people who perpetrated the attacks against our country.
After all, I am an American. And he was the president of our country.
I didn't see a divide there.
This was the one thing all Americans had to be on the same page on.
Right?
In those days after 9/11, I went from feeling like we were all Americans, united and strong, to feeling something else altogether. I became disgusted at our petty divisions. Not ones that may be valid, but ones that were consistently exploited. Particularly for political gain. I grew up with apolitical friendships, never knowing or caring much about the political beliefs of my friends. As a result, I know lots of right-wing people who I'd probably take a bullet for and vice versa. I used to laugh when people would criticize Bill Clinton about guns or something I didn't really agree with. It was just a light-hearted disagreement.
But after 9/11, I noticed how there were political forces and groups that thrived off those divisions. It got to be mean-spirited, cynical, or even evil on certain levels. Everything was always couched in "The war against"" language or with nefarious terms like "the ____agenda". So now if I believed that gay people should be allowed to marry, I had an "agenda". It seemed to me that the Republican establishment, in particular, always had to paint those who disagree with them as an enemy.
I am nobody's enemy.
But I felt like one.
Even with some of my closest friends.
I didn't think the Iraq War was a good idea, and as it turned out it was a catastrophic one. I almost lost a few friends over that. One acted as if I was a traitor, only to later tell me several times that I was right. But in the run up and early days of the war, we got into a back and forth that, from his side, quickly would escalate into a frothing, derisive anger. I hated feeling that way. I felt bullied at times and then reflexively compelled to figuratively punch bullies in the mouth. Whether they were some random person on the internet or a close friend.
It was then that I realized something.
Politics, especially for Republicans, is about fear and division.
There is always somebody out to get you. You have to be wary of the other side. Gays? The have an "agenda". The government? They want to take your guns, take away your (vague) "freedoms". Constant fear. Constant wariness of those who are different. Those who disagree? They are traitors. They are your enemy.
It seemed like we lost our minds.
But that wasn't even the worst of it to me.
Somewhere in that time, we lost who we, as a country, are supposed to be. What we are supposed to stand for.
After 9/11, we not only turned on ourselves over the next several years, we lost our humanity and what makes us a great country. We elevated a terrorist figure into a boogeyman equal to that of the office of the President of the United States, than promptly forgot about him after we used that elevated prestige as an excuse to invade another country. We tortured. Kept prisoners without trial for years. We wiretapped American citizens. Invaded a country that didn't attack us. We had officials close to the vice president of the United States and the chief political adviser to the president out a CIA agent for political reasons. We were trained like frightened chipmunks to flinch every time a color-coded alert system changed a threat level. It was a dark, ugly time in our history.
I think we need to reflect on that.
Who are we? As a people? As a nation?
The next time an Osama Bin Laden comes along, will we be brought to our knees again? Will we torture? Attack random countries? Allow our fellow citizens to be wiretapped?
Or more personally.
Will we live in fear? Will we turn on each other again? Will we make our friends and neighbors agenda-filled "others" who we need to be wary of?
Will we elevate the next Bin Laden up to the embarrassing level that we elevated this Bin Laden?
I hope not. It will be shameful.
Let's learn our lesson. Promote who we are. The nation of opportunity, of love, of freedom. We aren't so much the nation that Bin Laden made us turn into for so many years as we are the nation that, for example, weeps for our fellow citizens in the South who have been ravaged by tornadoes these last several days. We want to help, we want to love, we want to be united. But we can't let terrorists or cynical political forces dictate who we are.
We need to say: "Never again".
We're better than that.Every gay and lesbian person who has been lucky enough to survive the turmoil of growing up is a survivor. Survivors always have an obligation to those who will face the same challenges."....JakeImportant Notice: Our ObamaBiden2008 Group works hand - in - hand with Peckers PICS (Both groups were co-created to work with each-other).
